Flinders Classic 2012 The Gasman Report

It wasn't all a one-way street Gasman......on the Saturday night they were doing some servicing of their DR's for the trip home and needed a 17mm socket and ratchet to do their oil changes. Being an old DR owner and not having changed my tool box contents since getting the Tenere, I managed to find what they needed in a very short time. Karma.

I just wanted to add a bit more about Gus ang his mates...........
I was talking with Gus soon after they arrived and explained the arm in a sling.re the motorbike, Flinders classic etc..
Gus calls out .."its ok he's a motorbike rider"
you know I felt that if our situation was more dire Iam sure these blokes would have set up camp and stayed with us the night ...............Top blokes..............defintely the spirit of the Classic right there

this came in whilst I was typing my last post

like minded people helping others is what its all about IMO

but I tell ya Trev .if you had a Holden Fronterra ......they were the blokes to see :)

we travelled as far as these ruins and assumed they were the mine ruins (I suspect they were 5 minutes further on) insert Doh smily here



however I did suggest to Wendy that we should bring back some firewood and that we would be "ledgends" if we brought back some malle stumps...........which we did.we had to prise this sucker out the ground first tho.

We got almost back to camp and the front end of the Ferroza had a bit of a death knock........(front end.....loose axel or something found out lkater)..anyway a couple of lads in army greens stopped to give us a hand ..........I explained about all the motorbikes etc..
they said that we must be the ones scaring all the goats away..they were here to go shooting.
again nice lads.
we had a pretty full day out, thanks Wendy for the tour and the company

back to camp and one of the DR's is getting a bit of attention



then its on with Saturday night

Now Saturday night Iam not going to say too much about because its not really my place (first time there and all that)
If anything I did chew Dav and Fiona's ear a bit too much ........but Iam pretty sure they are allright about it.

good food, Iam told good beer (not a beer drinker), stout, porter etc
Speeches given awards handed out .and Mary Fairchild Brown......

Sunday morning the boys went for one more ride



Todd wasn't to keen .something about worried he was going to throw up in his helmet.......
I told him something along the lines of toughen up princess...........
actually a fairly special ride was organize by the Doc for a select few of them and I told him and Nick not to miss it.!

I spent the morning wandering around the camp, getting to know Trev and one or two others a bit more, plus I took a few more pics to remember the weekend by.

Well I think I have ranted and raved enough
I had a fantastic weekend, met some wonderful people and just hung around like minded people.
Trev kept an eye on eveyone all weekend and its obvious its a pleasure to him

thank you to everyone ..I had a ball !

we stopped in at a pub at Clare on the way home for tea...........
super friendly helpfull staff
they ask what do you want for dinner .Stu replies 'he'll have something that you can eat with a straw"

Sounds like you might have been converted Adrian.....

Just make sure that you maintain some access to a lighter quicker bike for those times when you want to hit the PAR's and have a ball with the throttle.
