r80rt fork springs

Would like to replace my 84 r80rt fork springs with new. Any advice on which brands are the best and a good dealer in the usa to purchase from?

Question

bmweuro-

may I ask why (not)?

This is why I ask why- being ignorant/ spending very little time on the 'net, I installed Progressive brand years ago in a '77 & still love them! I mean, it just handles beautifully.

However-after becoming aware of the negative opinion but based on the above, I more recently(2-3 yrs ago) installed them in an rs and hate them! Specifically, even after fiddling w/ pre-load from 1" to none, the front end is just plain "squirrelly", especially when decelerating @40 mph; if I left my hands off bars, I'm confident it would become a fullblown tank-slapper. Even w/ hands on it takes a bit for them to settle down.

Not at all the case prior to the install; did check for stiction w/ springs out - found none, torque relief bar utilized.

I can only blame the springs...!?

So, why haven't I swapped them out? I keep convincing myself they just need to be "run-in". As a consequence, I don't ride it all that often.

Sounds like a steering head bearing situation. What year is the RS?
