I'm impressed

I'm impressed with this thread. Being a minimalist sort of guy, I prefer the photos that have not been obviously doctored, like an attractive woman who appears not to be wearing makeup but is.
I would like to dabble, can anyone recommend a free software program as an introduction.
Cheers,
Mark.

hakes, Very dramatic shot. I like.

Another great one Dualthing.

TassieMark, If you just want to explore HDR some I would recommend the free trial from Photomatix (HDRSoft). Most software companies offer free trials. I've also used the Nik (Owned by Google now) software. The price of the Nik bundle is worth it just for SilverEfex, but I don't really like their HDR program.

Something familiar about that KLR.....

I miss her!

Sorry about you missing her.
She isn't getting much rest, I already put over 1000 miles on it.

Here is another HDR of water over the road. Just starting to rain.

She looks good!

Glad it went to a good home.

That bike has special addictive powers...

I don't have any recent ones, but here is one from last fall I just got around to working on.

Is that Timp Point Dave? I'm going to make it there this year.

Not sure if this was intentional but did you place the Jesse box there to get the balance of 3 things? To me the box feels like it draws the eye out to the horizon.

Nope. That's near Twin Point. I did go to North Timp Point as well as many others in the same trip. If you are planning a trip that way, check out this report: http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=926523

I was using the pannier as a chair. The other one was in front of it as my dinner table. I guess it does add a sense of depth, and clusters of three items often work better in photos than just two, but I was just walking around taking pics of my camp, while my Mountain House meal was reconstituting.

I messed up another old one.

Nice Dave
I hope you were able to find a rock free spot to pitch your tent.

For me, it's the very definition of solitude. What a wonderful photograph.

I'm glad you all like it. It was very lonely out there - just the kind of campsite I search for.

Here is the color version of the HDR. I took this one before sunrise.

And here is the same campsite from another direction.
The location was in Death Valley overlooking Badwater.
Bring a decent air mattress.
