I'm in - V2R Redemption Tour

Inmates:

I'm in for Amateur Ironman again this year. After a DNF last year at mile 275 due to lean jetting and melty piston, I need a finish to repair my self confidence.

Fun:

Not fun:

V2R Pics from 2011

More fun in 2012!

Im pretty sure I'll be there but supporting a friend, not racing gotta save the moola for later in the year. :)

Its nice he changed the dates. In the past its been on my wife's birthday and our anniversary. Kinda hard to ask her to spend it chasing v2r.

As soon as I hit the finish line at the Mexican 1000 I started thinking about what my next big race would be. Perhaps I should try V2R.

As far as logistics, is it possible to do this with just one chase vehicle or do you need a couple different chase trucks to be able to stay ahead. Keep in mind I am not very fast

Or, are there reasonably priced options for support for hire?

How nasty and whooped out is the course? If it is 500 miles of whoops that would probably change my mind.

1 truck is fine. Its much easier to chase then anything in Baja. They even give you a map of where the pits are.

As far as whoops there aren't a ton of them.

If you're serious Doug, we should talk. Thinking of doing this race also and I can probably haul your bike.

Last year there were 10 whoops. I counted them. They were hard parked rock whoops but I could count them with my toes.

Go for it, you'll have a blast.

Gear for the mooooooooon.

We have been poundering into doing the V2R one more time.
The race is fun. You start at sun rise and should finish at sun set.

Speaking of sunrise. How is it that Casey always finds the hill that is directly into the sun for the start? : in 09 all three days started into the sun.

Yesterday I found myself looking at the entry form and thinking about sending it in. :what: its a fun one.
