Bicycles mounted on motorcycle picture thread

Nice setup on your bike on bike rack. I have looked at doing the same thing with the same style Yakima mount on my bike.

Also, thanks for posting the pic and name of Motorcycle Pedia Museum. When I get back up to NY state sometime, I'll have to check them out.

This thread gives me ideas. Here's my setup. I dismantle my mountain bike into the bike bag and tie it down to the back of my Enfield. I get to take extra tools too this way. Its mounted on something called the Ladhaki Pannier - a heavy metal pannier that is quite famous among 'buleteers' going to the high altitude Ladakh area of India and other long trips. Quiet stable back there.

testing the clearances and location of holes for the yakima rack. i realized i will have to use the top case the anchor the bike and keep it from swinging around


all loaded up and ready to mount the front wheel


testing with the other bike just to be sure it works

The test went well and none of the bolts or straps came loose. I think i will have to get used to the movement of the bicycle whenever the moto hits a bump. It seems to be stable at speed and in turns, I have not had any cross wind experience, but im sure it will be ok.

VERY interesting setup. I may steal some of those ideas for V 3.0. I built my rack with a view towards riding to and on the FOTP in Phoenix the day after Thanksgiving. Seeing that I live in the Northeast, that requires a slightly larger cargo capaicy. I *am* designing a system for my ex to carry a bike on her Honda ST11, I've got quite a few design elements from your system that I can see working on what I plan to build for her.

Looks like its on an ST11 or 13.

Interesting. I'd like to see where the carrier frame attaches - the ST1100 has a weak rear subframe, the extra weight of a bouncing bicycle would not do it any favors.

yes i would have to agree. I must imagine he built (or some developed) flex in that system when it scrapes the pavement on turns he took a little too hot. A good idea if you have a trike or can-am...but I like to have the ability to lean a little when im taking my bicycle for a ride.

Does this count? I needed to have some place to pack my bicycle gear, and also some place to store my motorcycle gear while I was pedaling on the trails. It made the trips on curvy roads to the trails much more fun than hauling the bicycle in the truck.
