Brent: One last question: Did your homeowners insurance cover the Adventure, or was it fully insured(full coverage)? I as only because I carry renter's insurance but I know it does not cover motorvehicles so curious as to how they handled all of it and any overlap that might have occurred. Disregard if this has already been asked/answered...

Tim,

Homeowners does NOT cover the Adv since it was a street legal and street registered vehicle. Thankfully I had Geico M/C insurance with full coverage. Homeowners IS covering the rally bike since it was a specialty dirt bike and not registered for the street.

I just spoke to a buddy today who has State Farm homeowners and his motorcycles will not be covered in the event of a fire whether they are street registered or not so it sounds like it is a case by case or company by company coverage deal. He knows this because he made some calls and asked some questions after my fire.

Oh yeah, and I got my Geico settlement check this weekend! Just a little stoked on that news!

I have renters insurance from Geico and they said my dirtbikes are not covered, but bicycles would be. The motor is a disqualifier apparently? BS IMO. Good luck with the recovery sir.

Some thing just happened to my uncle. Had his Vstar on a trickle charger in the garage. My cousin was in the house with her two youngest kids. She was putting them down for a nap when she heard a loud pop. she went to the side of the house where the noise came from and could smell smoke so she grabbed the kids and got out. House was a total loss.

Dang Brent, that's some hard luck. I remember seeing a plume of smoke in Tahoe Donner about a month ago. Was that you?

No, I'm down the hill out near the airport but I heard there were 2 fires in 2 days so maybe you saw the other one.

Sorry about your loss. I have a ton of batteries for this and that and just the other day I put one on the charger while I was in the garage and a little while later I smelled something burning and checked the charger and the wirers were super hot and the pos post was melting glad I was there. Also I had a UPS hooked to a computer several years ago that burned the carpet. You have to watch out for old batteries. There is a 950 on craigs list in Truckee

Sorry to hear about this, but glad you are insured,

Was this by any chance a Deltran battery tender? cause i use the Deltran battery tender jr and have it hooked up to my dual sports battery basically all the time in the garage, just want to know if i should get a different one or what.

Not a battery tender. It was a car style battery charger from Batteries Plus.

Yeah, that's Dans 950 in Truckee. Super clean. I looked at it a couple of times while waiting for insurance money but bought a 950 SE instead.
