My dad had one of these when I was a kid. It was a blast to honk the horn at my friends because there was a button on the passenger side. I actually had to ride to a party on time in the back. That sucked.

I still can't figure out why he sold it.

I have no actual pix of it (it was dark blue) because Dad disappeared & so did the pix.

We’ve said it before, but it bears repeating; the GS handles in ways a two-story building was never meant to.

Taking collections for Faye Butler Training please spare some change.

I got to stand next to this once:

Can't remember where, it was either Sebring 1999 or the first F1 at Indy the next year. HUGE car.

My uncle was a lawyer in Las Vegas. One of his clients bought a 190SL sometime in the fifties. Dissappointed that his buddy's Corvettes, costing thousands less, would blow his door off, he sent the car to SoCal hot rodder Brubaker engineering to have a Chrysler Hemi installed. When this fellow got divorced, my uncle handled the paperwork and, as payment, he gave the car to Roy so his wife didn't get it in the divorce.

I never drove it, but my older brother did. He said it would burn rubber and fishtail in 3rd gear at 65 mph!
The thing was so damn hot my uncle never drove it, it sat in a storage yard in Vegas forever, until one of his friends talked him into letting him restore it and put it in a museum. If you ever see a 190SL with a Hemi in it, it's probably the one.

Oh, me? I rock the 4X4 of the year, circa 1998:

He vanished into a religious cult.

The Mob had nothing to do with why he had that car: my great grandfather founded a ball bearing company, so Dad had disposable income.

The other's a 1960 190SL that's been sitting for the better part of a decade now:

Supposed to look like this. I'll take a pic if its ignominious state later.

Dad had a '77 300D. Great car got over 285,000 out of it before it got totaled by a drunk driver. Much fun to cruise on the highway.

Yes, he is, but no, it's not. I don't think even folks like Nick could afford a pre-war Mercedes Grand Prix car. that's Brian Redmond driving the factory museum's car. (IIRC, the one I saw was the only one still in existence and had just completely something like a ten year restoration by the factory. Then again, I may be confusing it with the similar vintage Auto-Union GP car)
