A video too awesome to be left out of the Mercedes greatness thread:

Lang, Hill, Nürbergring. What's not to love?

Great car, I saw a British version 200T wagon at the local weekly car show tonight, still had the import stickers and paperwork stuck on the windows. Beautiful condition, RH drive and all. Very nice.

Currently looking for a good condition 300SD or even another 300TD Turbo if anyone has one laying around.

Wife has wanted an older SL for a while. We bought a C230K (2002 IIRC) right after 911, it was bad enough to completely turn us against ever buying a new MB again. This period in time was when MB forced too much electronics into their cars and their reputation suffered. Dealer said it was not just entry level cars, our warranty claims for $15K over 2-3 years was common even in the $150K cars. I love the older, simpler cars and would like a diesel. I still do not understand why they did not shoehorn a diesel engine into the ML.

Anyway, interesting video.

IIRC, non-USA markets had diesel ML's from the git-go. My brother (who also owns an ML)and I have been scheming on bringing a couple back from Canada

Michael Schumacher wins Monaco pole w/ Mercedes this morning.

But has to start in 5th position due to penalty imposed from last race.

I just checked out their web site, at $50K starting price I think I will pass. What happened to the good old days when they put the oil-burners in their cheapest cars like the 240D et al?

I learned to drive in a 72 200D in Africa. Talk about slow.

My first Mercedes, 1990 300E 2.6. Smoke silver they call it (champagne/ beige to normal people. Indestructable MBTex interior. Just retired recently after starting to drive on 5 cylinders.) A little underpowered, but got me hooked.

My 2nd, 1994 E320 black over grey, black leather interior. Gone. Solved the more power. Perfection. Stolen by the man.

Current, 1995 E320. Light grey with black leather interior. My lifetime average economy is 25.69 mpg for a car rated 18 city/ 24 highway/ 20 combined.

Wanted. 1995 E300d. 1987 300TD (that's wagon. All US diesels were turbo in 87.) 1994 300GD. 1994 E500. 404 diesel Unimog. 1987 Hammer.

Yes, I really like the W124.
