Of course I bought the Ural for me but I was hoping the dog would appreciate an occasional ride, will try and get her used to the thing this year.
But my wife enjoys riding in the hack; I may never get her on the GS again.

The resurection ???

I loved this thread.
It was a great read.
The controversy.
The insecurity.
The childishness !!!!!
Truly, the height of emotion came out in this thread.

Life was good, when this thread was active.
Oh, how I miss it.

Someday, someone will spark another great controversy and life will be great, once again.

My hat is off to bokad for having the nerve to bring up this uncomfortable subject. I have no desire to own a Ural but this thread only convinces me of that fact. However, having finished the thread and learned a few things (skipping quite a few pages in the second half of this epic) I came across this headline on the BBC news page. I thought it was superbly ironic in light of all the counter accusations flying here.

Japan's top four carmakers are recalling a total of 3.4 million cars over a defect in passenger airbags.
Toyota, which is recalling 1.73 million cars, said the vehicles had a defective part which "could cause the airbag inflator to rupture and deploy the airbag abnormally in a crash".
Honda Motors is recalling 1.13 million cars, while 480,000 of Nissan's and 45,000 Mazda cars are affected

I suppose one can safely say that defects in Urals don't generate headlines at least.

Thank you for bringing this up, I can sincerely state that in seven years of uRal ownership, I have never had an issue with my airbags, nor electronic throttle malfunction leading to unintended acceleration!

In fact, acceleration has always been controllable, to the point of being somewhat non-existent.

I also agree the original poster has a lot of nerve in stating his experience would the norm for everyone else.

Please note that I cannot utter his name, like the movie Betelgeuse, saying his name three times in a row will make him reappear astride a flaming uRal!

You must have missed it! Ural had a genuine official recall in 2010 for defective rocker arms. I think it involved something like 13 bikes.

Thumb Time on his hands?

It will be a long time before we get another thread with a first post like this one, because not many people would have the time or inclination to go on and on and on ! Christ he must have been pissed! I came across the post while thinking about getting a Ural, and it only encouraged me more! I got mine 3 weeks ago, so far so good. I love it!
