What is all that smooth stuff under your Ural? There wasn't a heck of a lot of that in Siberia on the Trans-Sib.

I don't think I've ever seen a Russell seat on a Ural before. Is it built on the stock bench seat pan?

Did you find out how deep? Yep, need to see an after photo.
Kinda a shame to get such a nice looking rig dirty but ...

Sorry, no after photo. It was a bit deeper than I thought but the "mighty Ural" plowed right through.

I had a Rick Mayer seat built on my Ural seat pan. It was wonderful. His brother Bill also has a mc seat business. Their daddy was the guy who designed the Day Long seat. So you can't go wrong with either.

Rich Maund near Norfolk used to active in seat building. I am not sure he still is. This is the last I found on the 'net http://sovietsteeds.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10229

Bobby Riddle (hdflame) in NC makes some good ones too.

Sent from the voices in my head and transcribed by their drinking buddy...

I had Bill Mayer build the seat on my current rig. There is much to be said for being able to fine tune and personalize the fit of a seat while it is being built! Bill uses your seat pan with his foam & leather.

Believe it or not I crossed sections of the Trans-Siber Highway that looked similar to this photo - only wider as in 3.62 lanes driven by Russians as 6.7 lanes. They "round up" if you know what I mean - sometimes affecting paint and metal.

YMMV
