2011 Missouri Swinging Bridges Ride Tracks
Added Printable Maps
http://thumperdrz.smugmug.com/Motorc..._ZFXVVp#P-1-10 Well I can't upload the tracks (for some reason) but I'm starting this thread so my good buddy Bigdog can upload them for me. The ride Starts and Stops in St. Clair, MO. The main route you'll see as light green for Saturday with the return trip as light blue on Sunday. Big bikes or those not looking for rougher stuff should stick to these. It is still a good challenging ride. Now there are a few offshoots in dark blue. The Saturday Trail option is just that. An ATV trail with a few logs over the trails to boot. The Bald Knob option is not a trail but there could be possible water issues here. In my opinion I think this is the best track of the ride. All bikes should be OK here. unless there is flooding. Ashley Creek is in Red. If there is a lot of rain this Spring, it might be best avoided. Otherwise it too is a wonderful detour. All of Sunday is fine and a fairly easy and relaxing ride back. I want to Thank Tony K for the route from Bay back to St. Clair. and Bigdog for uploading these for me......now for a drum roll....... For those that downloaded the file - please delete the Saturday Trail Option before Bixby. I have been warned that it is on Private Property. We've rode it before but I guess 80 or bikes going through there will be a problem. I've asked Mark to delete it from the tracks and re- upload. Thanks

Your are welcome------I looked it over thoroughly---you did a great job Gary. You put enough stuff on the file to be used easily---but didn't clutter it up. It will be a no-brainer to follow these tracks---riders without proper gps or no gps can follow tailights.

I don't know what I did wrong. I only received a portion of it entitled 'Ashley Creek - Possible Deep Water' that was 21.629 miles long. Anyone have any clues?
I donwloaded the GPX file, converted to Mapsend using GPSBabel, then opened in Mapsend Topo. I'm probably barking up the wrong tree in this thread, but thought I'd post up anyway. Anyone else using Magellan having issues? Thanks... |

If anyone is converting the tracks to routes....
Please let me know. Tried several times tonight but my 2720 truncates them. I'm pretty sure its because I am stupit and doing something wrong.

I could make some routes but then there would be something wrong with the conversion. What I can do is take screen shots of the ride so you can view or print and make your own routes to upload to your unit. It's good to have printed maps anyways in case of deep water, etc....It beats messing with file conversion software. Give me a few days for this.

Me and gary have went over the route thing before.
In mapsource----you cannot create an auto-route (a route that sticks to the road) and share it with a person who doesn't have the same mapping product it was created with. It won't work. Oh--you can download and load it---but it won't work right. Example----if I create an auto route with my garmin city navigator north america 2008----and give it to a person who has city navigator 2011---it won't work. Nor will it work with any mapsource mapping product that is not exactly the same. So the bottom line---it's useless to do this as most people---maybe nobody can use it and it causes much confusion. The best thing for people to do is create their own route using the tracks---and then load it into their gps. And if you don't have the ability, skill, proper gps, proper software to create a route on your own--- It's best to forget about it and just follow the track---pretty easy to do that. I've gotten really tricky with mapsource---I can create an auto route even if the road isn't in the software---really tricky.

Mark,
I nuked the route. And I hate to admit it but I knew that. Just wasn't thinking about it. It's gone now.

I remember when me and gaspipe road the Western TAT---I created a file and sent it to him---and he just loaded it and left---when he tried to navigate the route it was so screwy---because he had a different mapsource product. So we had to depend on my gps solely. HIs gps had purple lines going all over the country ![]() Mark
