Can you find the two snakes? We actually spotted 4 snakes at this bridge. Popular spot I guess?

And no trip would be complete without a breakdown of some sort. Here is MIchael patching his rear tire after taking a nail through it.

I do not have pictures of the third time because I made Michael leave his bike at a house near Big Rock, Ill. and rode him home on the GS. We got my trailer and went back for his bike. Turns out the extra extra extra heavy duty tube that Michael had purchased can not be patched! I guess they work good until you get a flat, then your screwed! That tube was so thick we could barely pull it out through the tire! and with no valve stem in it it held its shape like it had air in it. I prefer my cheap tubes too this. I have one in my KLR right now with 13 patches and it is holding air! And so our trip ended. I have to say I was quite impressed with our state. The riding was good, we saw some great roads, great scenery, and stayed in some very nice campgrounds. The people we met along the way............all GREAT! Turns out Illinois was no where near as boring as I had been led to believe it is. It had some areas that were breath taking! We had a lot of fun, just be careful of hot...... spring days..............rattlers are looking to get warm and full!

Glad to see you found Garden of the Gods, Iron Furnace and such. Some great stuff to see all over the state for sure.
I have to admit that I learned something new that is in my own backyard...the odd house near Cave in Rock. I'll have to keep an eye open for it, I'm guessing it's NE of Cave?

Sounds good Kim! I plan to be up your way a few times this year photographing bridges. I'll try and give you a little notice. Brad

Nice write up!
Thanks for sharing the tracks; they start not too far from me! I see one of your first roads was Elva RD. Was hoping for a picture of you next to all the "Road Closed" signs on the dirt sections, lol. Nice trip!
