Czech Republic
Hi all
I’m looking for your help We will be going to the Erzbergrodeo in Austria in 2013, I'm looking at routes for the ride over, we like to ride unsealed roads/dirt tracks as much as possible Hoping we can get some help with information for our route across Belgium and I'm sure Germany has no legal unsealed roads/dirt tracks, so would just use the most direct route over to the Czech Republic ![]() This is the area of the Czech Republic I was looking at ![]() Are there unsealed roads/dirt tracks we can ride in this area? I was also looking at the Šumava National Park which looks great to explore ? so not wanting to upset anyone what’s the law in the Czech Republic about riding in this area on unsealed roads/dirt tracks ? Many thanks if you can help Louis |

Louis, I don't have a direct knowledge, but around Tatra there are several ski resorts that could offer nice riding, Slovakia that I traveled a little for work offer dirt secondary roads.
Hope that some inmates could give more hints. Ah, beware - seems that Erzbergrodeo is going to be much less fun than usual, this edition "free" riding was strictly forbidden and enforced . If you have tome you could extend further south to my zones...

Hi Giorgio Thanks for your reply I was only looking at that option today, when we rode over to you in 2009 it was 2 days ride. We could leave the UK on Saturday 25th and be in your zone Sunday 26th afternoon we have to be in Eisenerz on the Wednesday 29th afternoon as we need to sign on 8am Thursday (we are entered in the iron road prologue) That would give us 3 days to play in your zone and get to the Erzbergrodeo I’m thinking this might be the best plan as the riding in your zone is great are you heading to the Erzbergrodeo ? Would be great to catch up Louis |

Šumava as other National parks are completely prohibited for off road riding. You should not leave tarmac in the National park areas. The general rule (and law actually) is, that riding in forest is strictly prohibited everywhere. You are even not allowed to ride forest tracks. Other dirt roads outside forests are generally OK. Have a safe trip! |
