My spell check doesn't like "soffit" and it was starting to piss me off!

House looks very nice.

Been following the various foam construction techniques and they seem to take less time to erect and offer better insulation than traditional stick framing. About the only thing faster seems to be pre-fab (only because it's built offsite and craned into place and what you see is house at the end of the day.).

How's the interior coming along?
They've done a few interior walls on the 3rd floor, so we can see what our bedrooms and bathrooms are gonna look like. I saw that for the first time today- so that was cool.

Just met with the heating guy (who happens to be the GC's brother- who also built and lives in an ICF home) and went over some options. We'll see what he comes up with for pricing.

And some dumbass forgot to bury a propane tank. I'll have to get on that ASAP.

Cool build and thread!

Did they pick up the excavator yet?
If not the storage fee = one tank hole.

Excavator is long gone. I think I remember how to run a hand shovel.

I treat the hand shovels pretty well- need something to lean on ya know.

Expensive power tools- I'll run them over any day.

My wife must have put you up to this post! She thinks they've been doing nothing out there.

So all the soffit work is now done and it looks awesome. They also finished the trim.

A lot of boring work on the third story has been done- stuff that the average person doesn't notice like blocking the framing, etc.

We've got the main power hooked up in the house, and everybody is happy to have that. No more extension cords across the driveway.

The windows and doors came in- and they're going to be installing them within the week.

They've also started strapping the exterior to get it ready for siding. This has been quite an undertaking because of the crooked concrete walls up high. Brad, our lead guy, has been really good with solutions to that problem, and I'm really happy with the outcome. The concrete guy should be ashamed of it- it's really quite obvious now that you can see the repairs that have been made.

"We" picked out exterior lighting, and sometime this week I'll put the boxes in. Every minor decision has become an act of congress. My wife agonizes over the smallest details. I'll narrow it down to 3 or 4 choices that she's given (she'll pick a dozen) and then hound me. It turns into, "I've given you 3 that I'm happy with, if you can't make up your mind I will pick one at random and you'll have to live with it." I'm told by various people that this is very common.

My new tractor showed up. It's awesome. I can't wait to put it to good use.

I was holding off on updates to the thread because I don't have any earth shattering pictures- I sure hope that this weekend will give a good reason to post up some pictures.

edit- We also met with a whole house audio guy and we're both pretty excited about this. He seems to know what he's doing and seems to take pride in his work. I told him that I needed clean crisp sound or that I didn't want to bother. He said, "That's all I do- if you want junk I'll direct you to the nearest box store."

Ok Fine. Here are some pictures. Sheesh you guys are pushy.

It's an L3540 HST. Got a hydraulic snowplow and a grapple for it. The grapple is being manufactured as we speak and is a week or two out from delivery.

My wife snuck some pictures of me drooling over it the other day and I found one without me in it.
From December 11, 2012

And here are a couple earth shattering and extremely exciting pictures of the strapping. If you are pregnant or could be pregnant, have heart problems, or have anxiety issues don't look at these pictures:

In all seriousness though it's pretty cool that some of you have taken an interest in this- I'm glad you're enjoying it. Open invitation for visitors when it's done- just ask. In time there will be a hot tub, big deck, and guest quarters.

There's a house in these pictures??? All I saw was Kubota orange!

The stapping was too much, had to sit down and take a break.

Yup.

You met the concrete guy and saw him in action. He seemed OK in the beginning and things went downhill from there.

In a way this is kinda your fault. You should have told me this was going to happen.
