Thumb Indianapolis Motorcycle Gymkhana; Let's get this started!

Hi,
My name is Chuck and I've been dying to try Motorcycle Gymkhana, which is basically an advanced form of parking lot practice. Here's Wikipedia's description:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gymkhana_(motorcycle)

A sample course:

Here's some video of folks doing it:

Folks trying to start this in Alabama:

Awesome guy from Japan (where this originated):

I think this would be benefit AdvRiders for the following reasons:

1) It wouldn't have to cost much. Many of the competitors ride 250CC - 600CC crotch rockets. Your normal street bike would be allowed, and would be perfectly competitive in it's own division too.
2) It could make us safer, better riders
3) I think there is pent up demand for something like this in Indy
4) It's a "run what you brung" event; you could participate with a wide variety of bikes, and they'd just be in different classes (Cruisers, Adventure Bikes, Street Bikes, etc.)
5) If you practiced this regularly (i.e. monthly) you'd get a lot better at it
6) It's a safe way to get started, with a controlled environment
7) It'd be great for sponsors / local shops.
8) We could create our own rule book to suit local bikes and our practice space. We wouldn't have to strictly use the rules that folks use in Japan.

So, what do folks think? Is there enough interest to start something like this in Indy? Here's the questions we'd have to answer:

Is there any place we can practice?
Can we get some cones?
Can we get a stop watch?
Would anybody come?
Could we keep scores and post them on a website?
Insurance? Do we need it? Where can we get it?
What do you do about guys breaking a clutch lever and not being able to get home? (Parts for sale on site or make people bring spares?)

So, that's my idea; anybody want to participate? Anybody got a small parking lot where we could get started? Let's hear your opinion!
Thanks,
Chuck

Not sure if you were serious, or if you were quoting Napoleon Dynamite (no big deal either way). Gymkhana doesn't include jumps; I am afraid if we incorporated that, the idea pretty much turns into Supermoto (which is cool too, just a different goal).

Ok, I can tell the name is going to throw some people.... Anybody got an easier word to spell than Gymkhana? Alas, if people spell Gymkana instead, they could show up expecting an entirely different event...

Hai yah!

I believe if you become an AMA club, you can purchase event insurance through the AMA.

Good luck! Seems fun.

I almost added "sweet" jumps...
I would cruise over to Indy to compete in one of these. I dig competition and am quite nimble on the ol' beast...fast too.

Thanks for the idea! You're the first person to give me some ideas on insurance.

I'd really get into it if we got something going down at Thompson's Motorsports here in Terre Haute...

I can tell folks would really enjoy this if they just tried it. I'm practicing on my own and can tell how much better I'm getting (and more comfortable) just in a few practice sessions.
