Coastie goes for a loop.
Alright now, I think this fits in the rules and meets the spirit of ADVenturing in the USA.
BLUF(Bottom Line Up Front)
Retiring Coastie sets off on Coast to Coast journey to visit family after serving 30+ years and missing untold moments at home.
I'm in pre-stage / Deployment preps for this trip. In the midst of completing the medical screening and all the ceremonial tradition that is expected of a military retiree, i'm looking at the horizon always. Honestly, I'm ready to leave and am using the ceremony to celebrate with the friends that I've served with.
Some details may help explain the level of preparation: I am one of the many Veterans re-entering the work force, so I know there is competition. don 't take failure lightly, nor do I allow things to progress that far.
I'm an ET (Electronics Tech) and live for planning and risk management.
I retire mid April and go out for a few months of paid leave due to not taking much time off in the past 10 years. I do need to find a real job to make it to my golden years, but all in good time. If you paid attention to the earlier sentence, I'm already working on my future, mitigating risk and working toward the next job. My efforts to join the energy sector will probably be captured here.
The whole point of this thread will be to establish a record of my prep, actual course around the USA, and any lessons learned that may benefit the next Traveler.
I greatly appreciate the opportunity to have a trip post here. Major Thank You to Baldy and staff. If I'm close during my travels, please pm me and I'll stop by to say a big Thank You!

From one retired Coastie to another, enjoy and be safe. Fair winds, following seas and not many flats.
