Yes, Young James mentioned that to me.
It really is a small world......I wonder who I will run in to next.
Any guesses?

Thank you for saying that
I was wondering if people were watching the videos or just looking at the pictures
The videos to me are the best part
They take a long time to upload and really tell the story better than the pictures alone
Some as well read the RR beside Pics and Videos :
... and checking their wines

Wow......10 bottles!
No wonder we all had such a good time
The wine I brought was a Domingo Molina Malbec from Valle de Cafayate.
It was one of my favorites
But probably as hard to find as the sea urchins we had for dinner last night......yum!

Through the pass to Santiago.

I am surprised at the lack of traffic on the roads when you post your videos. What do they close the road for you to take pictures? You know that NAT GEO suggestion is not a bad one. You could be the Anthony Bourdain of the Adventure world. Have camera crews following several different rides. Might be good for some gas money or wine. Ummmmmm??????????? have to think more on that.

Depends on where its at
If I wanted to ride in traffic, I would have just stayed home.
I also try to take the roads off the beaten path.
But sometimes traffic can't be avoided.
Worst traffic mess so far has been in the big cities like Mexico City, Bogota, Lima and La Paz.
But get off the main roads and it is pure riding pleasure.
Although the pass I did in to Chile has hundreds of trucks which I skillfully maneuvered around.
I have a video of that that I can upload but I didn't think anyone wanted to see a bunch of big rigs

Subscribed (as usual, I'm late). Just discovered your report and I must say it has been excellent! Just so you know it took 16 hours and 2 bottles of wine but I'm finally caught up. You've got an excellent writing style that makes this read like a book you can't put down. I wish you the best on your journey Lalo.

Wow! After 2 weeks of lunch time reading I've finally caught up to the "now"
part. Your narrative is great is nicely balanced with the pics.
It would seem that if someone wants you to go somewhere, all they have to do is mention that there's a hot spring there. ;)
Thanks for taking the time to put these reports together and sharing them.

trust and honesty

For just about the first time since I left Mexico, I am having to pay for the toll roads at the toll booths here is Chile. All the other countries in South America have been free for motorcycles. It is not expensive. Mostly less than a dollar each time. But I miss the fun of going around the toll booths and it being perfectly legal
And since I am on a motorcycle, it is hard to pay at the tool booths here in Chile.
I have gloves on so it's hard to handle change. I keep my spare change in a plastic bag in my tank bag. And I some times just hand that bag full of change to the person at the toll both and they just take what they need to pay the toll. They usually show me the coins they are taking so all is good. So today, I went thru a toll booth. I hand the guy my big bag of change and he takes it all and gives me a receipt. I said......"hey, give me my bag of change back and he mutters something about the bag and hands me the empty plastic bag back. Now I am mad. I said give me my money back! And he takes my coins and dumps them back in to my bag. But it seems lighter than before. I look at my receipt and he charged me 2100 pesos. It should have been only about 200. Motorcycle pay much less because the toll is based upon the size of the vehicle. I think he charged me the toll for a big rig pulling 3 trailers. I said it was too much for a motorcycle and he just looked puzzled. By this time traffic was really backing up at the toll booth and I wasn't moving until he gave me back my money. In the end, he gave me another receipt and gave me back some more money.
I just shook my head and left with what I had.
Lesson learned..........some people are always looking for a way to rip you off even when you put your trust and confidence in them by handing them a bag of money. I want to trust people but this guy just showed me that I can't

Two weeks and HOW MANY bottles of wine?

Yep, I love my hot springs.
I wish I had more time (and money) in Chile because there are lots of them here

Lots of new friends in Chile

So my GF took off for Buenas Aires.
And I left my new friend's house and went to see another friend that I got in touch with thru a mutually friend in Colombia. He is in the wine business here in Santiago and also rides a BMW GS. So this was one guy that I had to meet. He might have been a long lost brother or my southenn hemisphere, anti-matter counter part. What ever the case, it was great meeting him and I am sure we will meet up again.
Here he is cooking dinner for us.
Thanks for dinner and letting me crash at your place for a night.
