Back to Baja

I guided a 4 day Northern Baja tour for Chris Haines this past weekend.
This trip was extra special because I brought qhfan2 along with me
The first night we stayed at Las Rosas Resort and Spa which is one of the best places to stay in Ensenada

Here's the view from our balcony

Here's a view of the Ocean and pool area at sunset

qhfan2 enjoying the hot tub overlooking the ocean at sunset

We even had a hot tub inside our room

Even more Baja

Getting ready for dinner

Here's the view from our room looking out at the waves crashing on the rocks below. We left the sliding glass door open and let the waves serenade us to sleep

"just turn left at the dead cow" is how most people give directions here in Baja

El Diablo

This is the spot I broke my leg a few years back. I can't remember what happened. All I know is that I rode 30 miles with a broken femur to the hospital in San Felipe

bugs flowers and butterflies

This year Baja has received a lot of rain. Much more than normal. With that comes little plants and bugs that eat the plants. There are bugs, caterpillers and butterflies everywhere. But soon the desert will become dormant again

Jumal

The road to Jumal on a perfect day in October. For me, October is the best month in Baja. And this year is the best year to go in 5 or 10 years.

Jose's 7-11

There is a little shack on the edge of El Diablo Dry Lake Bed where a man of 92 years lives. He sells beers and sodas to anyone hardy enough to venture out there and in need of a cold beverage to wash the dust out of one's throat. He keeps things cold by keeping the cooler below ground so the ice lasts longer. It's in the middle of nowhere and you wouldn't find this place on your own.

This is where Jose lives

Here's the view from Jose's 7-11
