Looks like I am heading in to C R tomorrow
First stop......la Playa

UOTE=quimexa;20507769]Cool!!
Pacific Beach: I can recommend you Santa Teresa, nice beach, nice surf (last year a Reef Classic was held there) and you can find a camp sites and nice hostels, ( I know u re very good with maps so....here is the waypoint from Google maps)
https://maps.google.com/maps?q=Santa...8,2.469177&z=9

Volcanoes: I strongly recommend two volcanoes (because you mention 2... hehehe)
- Arenal Volcano: the best view is going to the National Park (I don´t know if you can camp there, but who knows, the Park Rangers are very friendly and one little tent next to their house won´t hurt anybody!! The best way is to get there from Cañas then Tilaran, so you round the Arenal Lake
https://maps.google.com/maps?q=Arena...+Rica&t=m&z=10

Irazu Volcano: is the highest volcano in Costa Rica, the route to get there is amazing!! it is locate in Cartago, so you need to stay in San Jose or nearest area.
https://maps.google.com/maps?q=Iraz%...Irazu&t=m&z=13

Rafting: since you are heading to the caribbean side, you can take Pacuare Rafting or Reventazon (right now the rivers are kind of dry due to the summer, but those two are the best here) I contacted Rios Tropicales, they said that since you are driving south you can leave your bike in there Operation Center in Siquirres, so as soon the tour is over you can continue your way to the Caribbean.

Their website
http://www.riostropicales.com/advent...ewater-rafting

And this is the a waypoint where you need to turn to the right and the Operation Center is about 2 miles
https://maps.google.com/maps?q=10%C2%B0+6'52.89%22N+83%C2%B032'31.32%22W&hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=10.112739,-83.543193&spn=0.017385,0.01929&sll=10.109993,-83.538151&sspn=0.069542,0.077162&t=m&z=16

Caribbean: Puerto Viejo!!!! the best place!!!!
https://maps.google.com/maps?q=Puert...+Rica&t=m&z=13

From there you can drive to Sixaola border.

Looks like I am heading in to C R tomorrow
First stop.....the beach

Let me know what do you think, maybe I can join u to visit the Irazu Volcano

Perfect!!!
I love my Triumph
Even if it is older 1996 model
I think that is a great choice
If you think you will do less dirt roads, get the more street version

Last day in E S

My last day in El Salvador, I headed to Cuco. I went to Playa de Las Floras. I was let down. I heard it was a surf beach but there was no surf. There was alos no town, no tourists, no good place to stay and no restaurant. So I went back to Cuco and they told me to head down this dirt road to Totuga Verde. It sounded good. And here is what I found for only $10 bucks a night. If I don't get a good vibe somewhere, I don't stay. I got a good vibe here and it was perfect!

Nicaragua

Every country has its own food. And to be honest, it is getting worse the further south I go.
Here is a sampling from my first night in Nicaragua

Somoto

I drove straight thru Honduras. It took only about 2 hours to ride thru.
My first evening in Nicaragua, I stopped in Somoto to hike in the Canyon. I stayed with a local family there at their place. I just saw their house and asked if I could camp there. There were 6 brothers, 3 sisters, mom, dad, and some misc. other people all living in this little house.
I pitched my tent outside with the chickens, turkeys, guinea hens, ducks, pigs, dogs and donkey.
This people were very close and seemed to enjoy their lives. They grew corn and were guides to show tourist thru the canyon.
At night, I went in my tent and review travel files on my computer. As I sat in my tent, 2 or 3 people would just stand outside my tent and just watch me to see what I was doing. I felt like I was their entertainment. I also felt it would have been rude anywhere else because they were just starring, But there, it just was to be expected.

Canon de Somoto

Canyon Somoto was 'discovered" only 7 years ago by some Swiss adventurers. Of course the locals knew about it but now people come from all around the world to hike and swim thru it. You can jump off the waterfalls too. It is 600 feet deep and it is only a few feet wide at its more narrow point. It was almost more of a swim thru its chilly water than a hike.
Here are some pics

I hired a guide to show me the way in to and out of the canyon.
I was charged $20. That included my camping at their house.
Here are some more pictures of the canyon

After swimming thru Somoto Canyon, I was craving steak. I found this steakhouse and had an ok steak.
Here is a picture of the armed guard watching my bike while I feasted on my steak
