So I am getting all my post trip maintenance done and when I go to the air intake to clean the pre-filter this is what I find.
Outside

Intake end

Inside (I rolled it inside out)

And here are the mud balls which came out of the inside.

I had never used a pre-filter before but I am pretty impressed at the amount of stuff that had collected...the filter was spotless!

Here is Dorito's air filter with no pre-filter.

Trude Snow Mobile Trail (Big Springs, MT)

So, picked up the hard drive tonight from J4S containing all the videos...over a lovely mex dinner. Anyhow, the is lots to go through.

Tonight's entertainment. Rails to Trails. It seems like such a good idea, you remove old track and repurpose the land. However, you leave the rock in varying degrees of depth. And then you have a wildly funny idea to put these things in them.

I only went over one of the four or five we saw. It looked smaller than the rest, and I still came over with the rear tire off the ground. It seems Blaster creased his skid plate on one too! Probably have enough footage to do a vid a day for an entire year.

The first one of those caught me off guard too! I was going WAY faster than that too. Thank god for 12" of suspension.

It goes without saying that I slowed down for the rest...

I later had one of the pine tree branches on that railroad trail smash my rear view mirror.

Shibby, good to know that you got an education on those too!

Anyhow, this is the very first part of the trail from the south end. There is a H.U.G.E sign at the trail head that warns no vehicles over 50" wide. We should have measured the wide-ass BMWs, as I think RFlagg clipped one of those rock out croppings.

County Road 22 (Two Track Leaving Del Norte, CO)

So, the illustrious filming crew was running two cameras...both of which appeared to think that is was 1/1/2009. Needless to say, it's made for some interesting times trying to figure out heads from tails.

As there wasn't a ton of two track (I can probably count all the two-track on one hand), I believe this should be the section of two track leaving Del Norte, CO (County Road 22).

This section is only a few miles long, and road well. If wet, probably not so much fun. Also, they have re-routed the road around the airport, so look out for signs as you approach it (or as we missed the sign and informed by an airport patron as we were continplating a race down the empty air runway: "Get your damn nose out of your GPS!"

That was actually a fun little piece of road, lots of whoops that we had to watch out for since we were fully loaded though. I was trying to stay out in front of the storm but as happened every day it caught us, so along with the rains we had some pretty good winds as well. Notice the dried out ruts...this would be pretty tough if it was muddy!

If you turn up the volume you can hear Eric hit the rock at the 47 second mark.

New Mexico--

Well the day was filled with tipovers and catapults. Here's a small clip of our illustrious cameraman with a small incident with gravity. i dunno, avoiding the ditch, bush and the rock may be easier, but you never know until you give it a go!

Is it a bad idea to give the prosecution ALL the evidence?

WY-Pinedale Alternate South of town

So there is a short alternate south of Pinedale with some two-track. The grey line shown here:

Approaching from the south, the road is relatively decent up to the Portugese Gate. After the gate, the top of the hill is a bit sandy if you miss the line (as RFlagg will demonstrate)...followed by a few miles of whoops, divets, holes and some fun.

I must be in a crashes mood tonight..only another 364 vids to review!

Tug--

Are you only riding NM, or starting in NM to go north? I haven't gathered all my thoughts (still vid editing), but can try to sort the NM ideas first if that would help.

I am going to try to get a much of the cdt as time permits. Hoping to do I 10 to Colorado before turning west, but may carry on into Colorado.
I have to be in Ca. at 5PM on Friday. So depending on when I leave Houston I should have 2.5 to 3.5 days on th trail.
