I thought for sure you would get that muffler turned around before you installed it... now you have to take it back out to turn it around.....

Looking good

Looks like major progress this weekend.

Man, that's cutting it close:

Hopefully this won't turn into a major carpentry project after you get the taller front springs installed! I guess you could always put a bunch of your buds inside it to compress the springs if you had to.

I had to deflate my tires to get it in.. The roof racks were in the way, and they scraped the rubber seal coming into the garage.

Those are the A&E Dometic Brand. Used to be called the Catalina.. Got a 10 foot one on the sliding door side and the 8 foot one on the driver's side. Makes a good place to keep the bikes out of the weather while I enjoy the added living space on the other side..

Got the same setup on Both of my Syncros,

Camping World used to sell them, so I went to them and said I wanted to order more through them but had to hold their hand while I guided them to the correct wholesale place to buy them... Be sure to get the mounting system meant for the pop-top VWs The standard Van mounts will interfere with the top AND require you to drill holes through the top of the Van...

You'll want this one:

My poor beloved 90 Turbo Diesel Syncro... My Wife KILLED it !! ARGH!@!

There was a campfire ban in affect... But no problem!

I really have no particular interest in Volkswagens. I do think they're neat cars, but aside from that, don't have any reason to want one.

Yet... I continue to follow this thread. Your attention to detail is very inspiring.

I don't think you can get the Dometic any longer, I'm also wanting to pick up a matching set of awnings for each side of the bus. The Fiamma awnings are still available, but heavier and bulkier than the Dometic.

Hey Curt, I'm going to try and have the bus finished up so I can make Jason's camp out again this spring, you going?

Great bunch of folks called the WetWesties, all Westy's are welcome...water, air cooled, 2wd, 4wd etc. It's in Walla Walla WA and it was a great time last year. It would be a trip for you, but you could hit sooooo many cool sites on the way out here! I'm also wanting to plan a trip to the Alvord desert again this summer in the bus, hoping to get a few other Westys to join in on the trip.

Here's a video of last years camp out.

You guys are inspiring me to get to work on my van (there sure are a lot of vanagons in the PNW!). 2ply, what version of the kflex are you using? My biggest gripe with my van is the noise, so this is near the top of my (long) list. Did you do anything with the floor? It seems to me like it's the source of a lot of the road noise.

Hodakaguy, thanks for sharing your project,
your a true craftsman on many levels
cant wait to see the Westie rollin out!

FWIW I was gonna suggest to get some gaiters for your shock piston rods,
it wont be long before sand and stones damage the rods,
and then they will be leaking, seen this more than a few times.
offroad stores have them.

Really??

Great project Hodaka! I am about 85% of the way through my restoration/modification project on my Tristar Syncro and I am glad to see other T3 enthusiasts out there on ADV.
