Wow! Great ride and great report! Loved the pix.

Looks like you guys had a fanatastic time on your trip.

I'm glad the report/tracks helped get you guys on the trail. That path is such a great ride, it is nice to see more people get to enjoy it like so many others have already. If anyone else is thinking about it, go for it! I'm sure these guys can tell you it is well within reach and a worthwhile pursuit.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience! It obviously took a lot of effort to post up so many great pix and so much good information. I hope it helps motivate some others to check this out for themselves.

I have issues reading ride reports because it just distracts me from what I'm supposed to be working on and makes me want to go riding.

I finally finished reading and ogling all the pictures, and I've decided I definitely need to finish the CDR...

And the TAT. And all the backcountry discovery routes. Who's in for quitting our jobs and riding everywhere? Roving Heathens 2013?

Thank you Sir! The seeds of confidence and security you sowed have spawned uncounted hundreds of epic rides on the CDR and MANY others. Y'all should see his upper mid west work. We saw 10 to 20 other motorcycles on the track and ALL but 2 of them were ADVrs. I didn't survey everyone because we never got a chance to camp with any other riders. Mostly just meetings at gas stations, or a blur going the other way.
Here is a funny story for you.
All of us had the R3 loader (Cannon's gps file) OR so we thought. At the top of the rail trail in N-Idaho we learned that not everyone had v3. There were 2 guys, Scott and Steve, leading almost 100% of the ride. Many times those two would check maps and gps files along the way. For the most part, I stayed out of it, unless I saw that we were deviating from your route. We stopped for gas and regroup at the gas station in Big Springs (next up that huge valley just into Montana) when at a traffic light, Scott and Steve were going straight when my gps was saying take a R on hiway 20 for a few miles. I followed them right to a locked gate that was clearly marked on my gps!! I rode off to where our route went wrong and continued up the road with H14. I was under the impression that SnS were trying a short cut or something, but NO they had R2 loader and we just found one of the reasons you created R3

Your work was INVALUABLE in planting the seed then handing us the tools to pull it off! We all owe you a great deal.
