lack of black

dear displacedscot

i agree -- the trophy not offered in black is weird especially because it is a triumph which offers every bike they make ( except the 2013 trophy ) in black . nyc ducati/triumph in the west village in manhattan will paint any bike they sell in your choice of color . they recently displayed a pic of the ducati 1199 painted glossy black . i would show this black ducati 1199 to the forum but i can never get a pic to work in advrider . when i order my new 2013 triumph trophy from nyc ducati/triumph i will request a full glossy black paint job . their paint shop does a fantastic job . the custom paint finish looks better than a factory paint job . thanks for the black trophy pics .

I thought i was the only one regarding the seating position. I put it down to having had a succession of big trailies.

That and riding a road king did it for me.

Thank you for sharing this, as I've been considering a Sprint GT, but they only offer it in that Écurie Écossais blue that they've become so fond of. I'd like a bright red GT, as that's my colour of choice for pretty much everything.

Will have to pay them a visit, next time I'm in the city.

$$$$

I fear that this bike may end up costing me alot of money. If it is anything near comfortable when I test it that might be the end of my current herd.

It looks like they are very near what may be the perfect bike for me.

Oustanding wind protection, handling, and controlls. A motor that feels like it is electric, huge range and cruise control.

Of course this is speculation without riding it.

I may have to settle for a demo unless a bunch of you buy them and trade up for the 2014 when the pull that dumb antennea off.

Oh yeah, I like the blue.

Kevin Ash's review made it sound like an impressive bike. As a Strom owner, the discussion of the wind protection was pretty interesting...I'd like to ride one and see how good it really is.

I like the idea of a black one - but my choice would have to be the blue one.

Slightly off topic but the new black colour for the K1600GT I believe transforms the bikes looks. I wish I could afford one but sadly not at this time.

It sounds like you have a great dealer there in NY. Good luck with your purchase

black 2013 k1600gt

dear displacedscot

i have seen the lovely pics of the black 2013 bmw k1600gt . bmw calls the color graphite which is their way of sounding more expensive . i thought to myself that if triumph is copying the bmw k1600gt ( and the bmw r1200 whatever ) it is ironic that bmw sneaks in a black version of the k1600gt right after triumph announces the colors of the 2013 trophy . the triumph trophy boys were probably unaware that the bmw boys were going to release a black 2013 k1600gt . i am definitely tempted by the new "graphite" 2013 bmw k1600gt . but i do not think that the k1600gt will be as much fun to ride as the new trophy . having not even sat on either bike , i am only speculating . one thing is certain these bikes cost an outrageous amount of money .

I certainly would not let a bike's color choices sway my decision about which bike I liked better and would purchase.

Well, unless it's yellow. I hate yellow.

The '13 Speed Triple comes in piss yellow. Nasty. Nearly as bad as that T12XC in olive drab.

'nother test of the Trophy - in German this time (i think).
