Question Zumo 550 question regarding maximum length of track

I have owned the 550 since it first came out and have never had this problem until now, perhaps the latest version I downloaded…

Now my tracks can only be about 100 miles long. Anything longer than that, the 550 gives me a straight line from about mile 100 to the finish of the track.

Am I going crazy or has the Zumo always limited the tracks to about 100 miles?

Thank you!

Not sure if you are talking about recording tracks or converting to routes. Don't think there is a limitation on the size of the track as far as logging.

When converting/importing tracks there is no limit as long as there is a mapped road associated with the tracks. Off road there is a limit of about 250 converted track points or via points in the off road route. Sometimes there can be confusion with the routes as well in mixed road/offroad junctions.

Yes, that's the problem, I use off road topo maps and more than 250 track points...

So I guess the best alternative is to use way points rather than tracks or have shorter tracks... Bummer. Makes no sense to limit the ZUMO that way,.

The zumo 550 was originally developed without the ability to import Tracks and show them on the map. This feature came later in it's life only because there were many users who wanted that feature. But, there was only a very small amount of internal memory for this code - hence the limitations on Point count. There is no limitation on Track length only the point count.

Cheers,

Here is a converted track test on an pure non mapped "off road" track.

As I remember it there were about 750 track points when the software routine reached 250 converted route points. And the route jumped to the last track point. I think on a relatively straight track I was able to convert up to 1000 track points once but again the limit is 250 converted points.
