Whats wrong with Honda?

First they took the Africa Twin out of production, and tried to replace it with the Varadero. Now they took the Transalp. NC700? No match.

Then in the cars section they took the Honda S2000!!!! Even today, the S2000 is better car than the newer FRS or the RX8. Whats wrong with these guys?

The same thing that's wrong with all the former great companies: they are now run by bean counters trying to maximize shareholder value while also appeasing the corporate lawyers fear of repercussions.

1988: Kawasaki introduces the ZX10 and goes 165 MPH. Dominates the industry.
1991: Without any competition, Kawasaki upped the ante with the ZX11 and goes 175 MPH.
1993: Again, without competiion, Kawasaki redesigns the ZX11, keeps the top speed but makes it a little longer, a little stiffer, improves the fit and finish and extends the fuel range. The bike continues to dominate the bruiser market.
1997: Honda--with all of their tremendous resources--sheepishly introduces the Blackbird...that goes a whopping 178 MPH. OMG! THREE MPH after getting their ass handed to them for nearly a decade! They are sooooo ballsy!
1999: Suzuki introduces the Hayabusa and again, upped the ante to 193 MPH.
2000: Kawasaki brings out the ZX14 but, all the manufacturers have a gentleman's agreement to voluntarily limit the top speed of all future bikes to 300 KPH or 186 MPH. Was Honda part of this space race? Hell no.

In the meantime, they introduce turds like the VFR1200...a sport tourer with a sub 150 mile range, the ST1100 and 1300--touring bikes without enough charging system to keep up with an electric riding suit, and Gold Wings that got high 20s and low 30s for mileage.

Remember when the Rune was released? It was the first Honda showpiece designed in the USA. It was only impressive in its bulk. I think Honda is driven more by the designers than engineering, now.

I've been asking that a lot myself...

Don't forget killing the two-stroke, getting rid of an entire SERIES of successful motorcycles; namely the XR's and replacing a perennial 10-best bike winner, the VFR with an overteched, overweight, overpriced bike that no one asked for.

Sales of the S2000 starting falling pretty dramatically in 2006. They killed production in 2009. Makes sense, car no sell, no make car.

What makes the S2000 a better car than the FRS?

Ok, I don't have an FRS, i bought a BRZ after searching for a low mileage s2000. I am a lifelong Honda addict, I will add. No torque down low in the S2000, but yeah, the S2000 is neat, it may be faster than a BRZ/FRS, but not a better car. And for about the same price as used, I got new with warranty.

Why do reviewers shit all over Honda cars like the Civic, yet Honda sells a shitload of Civics? Honda may actually know what they are doing.

Just because morons line up for a product does not make them the best in their industry.

you can have my hondas, both automobiles and motorcycles when you pry them from my cold, dead fingers.

By no soul, you mean no maintenance. YFF's are funny.

I do admit to being in love with Yamaha's new FZ09, and will probably buy one over a new honda this next year.

honda make what they want us to buy, not what we want.
im a honda guy at the moment but the newer bikes are overcomplicated expensive heavy ugly things that i wont be buying.
my next bike may well be something i put together myself, nobody makes anything that really takes my fancy these days.
