Erfoud for thought... Oilibiya Rallye Maroc 2012.
HONDA HRC returns to Rally Raid and after 24 years in the wilderness, stamps it's authority on the sport!
Dateline. Erfoud (on the edge of the Sahara) Marocco. Earlier today HONDA HRC rider Helder Rodrigues took his factory backed Honda CRF 450 Rally from behind, on todays opening 271 kilometer marathon stage of the Olibiya Rallye Maroc and in the latter portion of the race, passed his rivals to steal a commanding victory on the HRC teams rally competition debut! After 24 years away from the pinnacle of long distance off road motorsport, Honda has tossed its hat (or at least a flat billed baseball cap ) back into the ring... and has done so in a way to make the rally world take notice! ![]() On this the very first competition stage, of the team's (and bikes) very first rally, the HRC CRF 450 Rally comes away with a victory over the sports established champions - KTM. It may be a long way from the Supercross stadiums and AMA motocross tracks of North America, or the rugged terrain of the Baja peninsula, to the desolate wastelands of eastern most Marocco... but this latest evolution of Honda's CRF 450 has shown it is worthy of the pedigree. Months of development and testing have culminated in this moment and HONDA's return to the sport of cross country rallying... looking to pick up where they left off nearly a quarter of a century ago... by winning.

I think it's pretty clear this first stage win has ktm rattled. To win a first stage of a rand newbike running efi is amazing.
Are the ktms running efi or fcrs? 2 crfs are carbed aren't they? |

Pirelli's...
Word in the bivvy is that the Moustache man jumped ship, took his Pirelli's with him and joined Honda.. Lets see how the tyres and mousses hold. Traction on them things is good though, they look like new after a stage in the Dakar!! :) I'd be more worried about that then EFI vs Carbs..

KTM and the old Honda's are lagging. EFI is proven since the first Mercedes 190E in '86...

On cars it's proven, but not on bikes.
