probably street legal 250s for the organization... a bit like VW's Amarok "gift" to ASO a few years back

This would be an interesting statistics....

I suppose most of the Dakar competitors cam/come from Enduro racing, not many MX only riders. I remember the poor Malherbe, even Rinaldi tried and almost ended like Didier. Intelligence and ability to decide quickly in front of a trail terraind variation is more important that pure gas. Maybe Franco Picco was the only MX rider who achieved very good results?

Didn't Teddy Balžusiak try his hand at Romaniacs and found navigation to be a tricky aspect?
I think he injured himself early on.

Taddy ran an event in south america(i think) together with Cyril. He didn´t win. I would not think of Taddy as the next alien or the like in the rallyscene. He is a missile in a closed loop(endurocross) and very explosive(ridingstyle). He tried Romaniacs and stepped out after day2( i think) he had an injury.
Knighter would be way more Cyril-style. Cyril have ridden some of the extreme events erzberg and romaniacs. If Knighter learns the navigation he would be alien top rider

There are so many factors to consider that its impossible to say "he would". Has potential might be a better way to describe his chance at reaching the podium IF he gets mentored properly, IF he commits to years of cdedication, IF he stays healthy, IF he becomes a natural at leading the pack (navigating at the front), If, IF, IF, etc

And IF I'm not mistaken and as good as he is and with the potential he has, he will be 35 by Dakar 2014, so perhaps a little too late for a serious conversion as a top factory rider for rally and the Dakar?

I think Knighter will be similar to Coma on a bike, both relatively big guys who punish thier bikes. For sure he has to learn navigation but the trail savvy he has for enduro will surely benefit him enormously in rally raid.
