Shiny Deep Sea Divin'

Anybody into the Heaviest of Metal?
I'm and instructor at a commercial diving school and I've been piecing together as much kit as I can to run a diving history seminar for my students and maybe the local sporty divers. It's a Japanese hat, made a collar up and had it installed on my Viking, Desco belt, knife and boots. Made the control whip out of the shiny brass parts bin.

The maiden voyage was a success. 40' with nary a hiccup. Next stop 170' in a month or so...
Been a few years since I've been in heavy gear, and I'd forgotten how comfortable it is (well, not so much on deck).

Provincial Labour regulations would make it pretty tedious to use it on a jobsite, it's kind of a shame. All day sand bagging or dredging would be much nicer than lightweight gear IMHO.

Anybody else into copper collar workin' gear?

I have a friend who is a member of this lot:

historical diving society

Looks impressive but a bit surface-dependent for my liking

A Jack Browne is one of my closest calls to biting it. Got pulled off my noggin. It sure changes your priorities fast.
Never did a MK12, They didn't trickle much into the Canadian market; Morse still makes it incidentally. If you see an air hat around here, it's likely an AH3 or a Desco pot, but Superlites dominate.

MAPP gas? For real? I'm asking because that's a Victor 3900 oxy/aecteylene or oxy/hydrogen torch. They haven't made them since 1980 or so and parts, especially tips are unobtainium, so if I cannai get a substitute working, it stays hanging on the Wall of Awesome which would be a shame; but I'm not going to risk wrecking my only tip.
I've been playing with propane/mapp tips and propane right now, just ordered some MAPP to try and get it working. No success so far.
You wouldn't recall any details would you?
As far as I can tell, the MAPP tip needs a much longer standoff, so the air shroud collar surrounding the tip keeping the air jacket around the flame needs to be about 1/2" longer. I turned one on the lathe and plan on trying it out soon.

It's been a good summer... Got the rig down to 170' twice without incident ( to be honest, I was a little tense on the way down the first time, but settled down fine on bottom; don't tell my students)

Been on a wreck with it as well, but haven't got the video from my GoPro fanatic mate yet.

Alas, Japanese heavy metal has been sold to make room for ultra awesome American metal,
a Morse 4 light commercial. The extra top window (light as they're called) will make a big difference.

Huzzah, I say, Huzzah.

That is pretty neat! I used to be a commercial diver in the North Sea and never used that type of "old" dive gear. For us it was the Superlite 17, Viking suits and Broco torches...

17s are "old" now. They still make them, but are slowly being fazed out by hats with idiot proof locking mechanisms and decent balance.
