Alberta "flash-cache" challenge

OK folks here it is..... Rob1313 and I took advantage of a beautiful sunny day (+18) and started off a variation of a geo-cache. We've planted our "cache" and it's ready to be found. It's a tiny flash drive in a tupperware container.

There's already a few pics/videos on there as well as a great GPS track for some off-road trails in the area. I've also added a .doc file. If found, simply add your 2-cents to the doc and re-save (time and date of find, route taken and so on...). Please add your own pics, videos, GPS tracks and then re-stash!

So Rob1313 and I started out in Edmonton and decided the best way to start this thing was to head in a direction that would make it more reasonable for those in Red Deer, Calgary and so on to give it a shot too. A mid-morning departure.

We were both on the Stroms (Rob the 1000, me the 650), so we kept it to slab and gravel, but believe me....there is no shortage of awesome trails in the area. We arrived in the general area of our destination and stopped for a very nutritional lunch.

As we ate our delicious lunch and discussed where we would stash our treasure, we came to the conclusion the best place was right there in the lounge. Here's the nice bartender-lady (whose name I can't remember), who has been warned that some muddy, foul-smelling dual-sporters will soon be in her bar hunting for this little piece of tupperware.

We found a nice little hiding place and stashed-the-cache!

Rob1313 took a pic of the GPS co-ordinates and will post them here soon I'm sure. I glanced at mine as we pulled out, and if I remember right it was N53 06.141 W115 19.032. After that, we took one last pic and hit the road for home (note how delicately the name of the restaurant has been edited out).

Keep in mind this cache can only be retrieved during regular business hours!!

Good luck cache-hunters!!

It was a blast riding with ya today buddy.
Here is the shot of the GPS location of the stash.
Riders be warned that there is some covert speed enforcement on the road to the stash. Take it easy. Watch for wildlife too.

Happy hunting....

I'm sure the next rider through will just move it around after that. While we would like to keep it in the general area it is meant to move. We can't help it if you take it far away......

I think I may, just may, try to snag that thing Friday evening. And I'll be quite mobile, too.

Ooops. I forgot to edit out the sign behind the bikes , but to be honest it doesn't really matter (It's not the name of the town or anything). It's a great area to ride!! Feel free to re-stash it wherever you feel like, just be sure to post the coordinates of it's new hiding place here (a place with cheap beer and good hot-wings would be great)

I don't have a gps but I found the town on Google Earth. Went for ride this afternoon and found the cache. It was such a good place to eat that I left it there so some of you other guys can go and try the food.

Congrats Johnny!! For anyone else that makes it out that way....the philly beef dip gets Whitey's 3-thumbs up!! I finally managed to get the helmet-cam footage put together and it can be found here;

http://ca.video.yahoo.com/mypage?s=20698&public=1

It's a little short as the slab riding doesn't make for very exciting footage. Enjoy!

I can't believe Johnny left it there for me! What luck. I Picked it up at exactly 5:00pm.

I almost turned around at Tomahawk because the weather looked grim but I decided to risk it. The wind was very strong and gusty

along the way to it's new home

Getting close

Unfortunately the weather kept looming so I rushed it a bit and the photos and diary are lacking.

It should be easy to find however. It's in a gem of a spot not far from a busy road.

Look UNDER the little chunk of concrete

HAVE FUN!!!!....I did. I got wet too...
