Although I haven't known Dave for long I feel privileged for opportunities I had to ride and laugh with him. A devastating loss to all who knew him.
![]() As I rode today he was on my mind almost constantly. In the dark tonight a moose suddenly appeared on the road in front of me. With front and rear tires squealing down the pavement I braced for impact only to see the moose jump ahead at the last second like he got kicked hard in the ass, allowing me pass with inches to spare. I know who kicked him in the ass. Thanks Dave.

hard to write this days later...
I met Dave last fall and immediately felt as though I’d known him for a very long time. Somehow, he touched my soul and I am deeply saddened by his passing.
Dave was a great rider and a good man. I was always happy to hear that Dave would be on any given ride we shared and I felt privileged to be with him. The memory of his contagious smile, generosity and companionship will be with me forever. I will miss you DrCool.

It was an honor and privilege to have known him and rode with him. He always brought a smile to everyone's face. He made me laugh Rally Raid July 2009 ![]() He will be sadly missed. Our sincere condolences to Margaret, Chynna and Shane.

I've been going through some older photos and found these from the 1st time Drcool came to Muskoka to ride the ice with me.
He looks a little cramped...he still has the low seat on the bike. I could still barely touch the ground and he makes it look like a minibike ![]() ![]() ![]() He even made a set of tires for Shayne!!! Great dad! Shayne put in more laps than Dave and myself combined! ![]() Ride on, Dave!!!!! ![]()

I only met Dave a couple of times, but as many others have said, he left a lasting impression as a big-hearted, generous, and deeply good-spirited man. Though I did not know him well, his posts and trips on the boards were an inspiration to me as a young father, as it was clear how important his children/family were to his life.
He will ride on in the collective memory of this community, without a doubt. Many, many heartfelt condolences. dc |

Not only was Dave smiling all the time but he managed to make everyone else around him smile and laugh too! Here are a couple of moments I captured at Pig-Pen's (formerly known as KTM Mike) summer BBQ in 2010. Dave was in full form that evening......

RIP Dr Cool
I too was invited to a ride night but couldn't make it. From his posts I could tell he was the salt of the earth and the kind of guy that makes this forum great.
My condolences to his family and friends. RIP Dave. |
