Try the HUBB bulletin board for Latin America. You might even find someone nearby where you live who has done the trip. Send me a PM if you want and I can hook you up with a few people who have done exactly what you have planned.

EWS means Elektronische Wegfahrsperre and shows that there is an issue somewhere in the anti-theft-system.

This can be the antenna our something else.

ok lads. EWS Error code on my bike now. Bike starts fine but won't shut off. Who has his money on ring antenna?

For those wondering about the ignition switch problem that I had about 2 month ago I checked with a new ignition switch (well I bought a used one, you never know) and that's not it.

Heading to the dealer to get some bearings for my 1150, will ask him to read out my 800GS. We'll know in a couple of hours. Fingers crossed.

You need a new battery in your box.

Or else it's the 700GS float you just put in it. Did you reshield the wiring? Was the battery disconnected for this?

I bet the ZFE got wrecked as well.

Battery is definetly not the problem. Going more than strong.

Read the fault codes on the bike. Were alot of them since it has last seen a dealer but nothing concerning the EWS error. Last on date was me disconnecting the odo and before that 2k kms ago telling me that my heated grips stopped working.

The battery was disconnected for the fuel pump. Wirings didn't need reshielding or anything, they were perfect.

Talked with the BMW mech' about the fuel pump but he didn't think that this was it, neither the ring antenna since it's starting. Went for a 100km "ride in" for the tires and the fuel pump and now back at home the bike stays shut off. Weird electrical gremlin. My money is on the fuel pump and the ECU needing to adapt to the new sensor + battery disconnect.

Maybe that is why they write on the plastic seal thingy above the fuel pump "do not disconnect battery"? Inside news Reaver?

What the fuck is ZFE?

Pay attention boy.

The shielded wiring thing was just to confuse you. It worked too well.

The plastic thingy about disconnecting the battery???? The one that says "Don't rest the battery here dipshit, it's heavy and you'll wreck the wiring or break the plastic fuel barb". That plastic thing?

OK, your alarm box under your seat likely needs new batteries. Ever change those things?
