What are they thinking?

Took a ride on my 88 K75 today to get my hair cut, what there is of it. I'm on Cave Creek Rd. heading south for those of you who know the phoenix area. I'm doing 50 or so in a 45, watching my mirrors and getting ready to turn West on Thunderbird. Suddenly, a guy screams by me doing at least 80. (I saw him coming). He was in his lane, the one left of me, wearing helmet, shorts and T shirt. As I'm watching him, I'm startled by his buddy, I assume, because his exhaust is a lot louder. He's doing maybe 85-90. As I continue on, thinking WTF, I see them both pull into a strip mall type area and park their bikes...walking into a store.

Now this stretch of road is very busy, lots of shops, side streets, stop lights, etc. Not a place to be doing that kind of speed. Don't get me wrong, I like speed. I love sitting at 90-100 mph. in the right circumstances but I just don't get what these guys are thinking.....or not thinking. They were young, I'm guessing teens to mid 20s. Where the hell did they get the idea that it's OK to do that and where did they get the idea that they can't die? Even in my wildest days around that age, I never did anything that stupid.

They aren't. The mental internalization of "consequence" doesn't really develop in the human brain until the mid- to late-20's.

I can remember riding down Shea on my HawkGT at around 100 indicated.

At that speed, the difference in speed is so great that traffic appears to be moving backwards.

My Hawk was my performance award generator.

Well, screw this! Some of you have made derogatory ref. to my age, not sure I understand that but guess you do. I still think 80-90 mph. in a 45 is irresponsible, stupid and disrespectful of the safety of others. Not to mention their own safety, especially dressed as they were. I guess I'll be posting a lot less here in the future.
