A sequence of carefully planned events will never lead to bliss. Only one force has the power to change life: passion. Before we can live the life we imagine and before we can ever become who it is we know we truly are, we have to make a choice to pursue dreams, take risks and act on desire.

I so firmly believe in these statements that I'm willing to risk everything for them. How you ask? By attempting to be what I've always wanted to be. It requires abandoning my career, losing all financial security, packing only what I will need into a backpack and setting out into the world to determine my own fate.

The time has come for, “Around the World with an Italian Supermodel.” Who's in?

Have you left yet?

if you haven't already checked out "the long way around" or "the long way down" you should. The two guys who made the documentary are Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman. Its on netflix streaming. I'm sure you'll be able to pick up on some helpful hints.

Good luck & keep us posted as to your trip. I'd be willing to bet there are a couple thousand people anxiously awaiting your next big trip.

Wish my job allowed me to work form anyplace with a network connection.

Yep, it'll be on a Panigale and yep, it'll be on the current bike.

sstorkel: I considered Kickstarter--and appreciate the reminder to consider it further.

fritzcoinc: Have not left yet. D-Day will be sometime in late April or early May.

Everyone else: Thanks, seriously, for all your confidence and support.

Dude hope you can come through either Dubai, UAE (Where I live) or Vietnam (Where I have a house and a few bikes). I'll help all I can in both places. I'm sure the Ducati Owners Club in the UAE will be a great help.

Coast to Coast (and back?) with an Italian Supermodel

Dennis,

I just got back from a ride from NC to California and, when in Death Valley, I think I met some old friends of yours:

When I got down to the Crowbar in Shoshone, I told the waitress about them and she said, "Oh, yeah, that's Ike and Mike. They hang out around there."

Mike

Michael, you know I'm gonna hit you up in Vietnam. Especially since it'll be unlikely I'll be able to get my bike across the border (we'll see). (Michael owns/runs Vietnam Motorcycle Tours, and is a great guy, if anyone finds themselves looking for a bike in SE Asia!) Would love to make it to Dubai, but it's doubtful I'd make it there by road.

Awesome pics, Mike! Ike and Mike, eh? They sure look smaller next to your bike than they do mine.

Tallbastid: Yes, it's on and is all coming together.

Very excited for your trip. I could almost be your younger twin--very similar personality and affinity for uncomfortable motorcycle touring (racked up 60k miles touring on a suzuki TL)

I cannot express how happy I am right now
Fuckin' respect.
In the unlikely event you do make it to Australia, (it is unlikely, as the quarantine regulations and expenses importing a used bike are prohibitive) a good mate of mine is the Sales manager at Fraser's Ducati. You'll be taken care of. Not to mention when you're in Sydney you'll not pay for drinks, food, or accomodation if we can help it.

I think I'm going to have to figure out some fundraising ideas. I'm so fuckin' proud of you dude. I might also have to head Europe-ward and grab a bike again.

Another reg

Read the full RR starting a few days back, and like many others, amazed and inspired enough to register just to say thanks, AH!

I live in NH, traded in for a '13 Ninja 1k last year and this story has moved my "ride this thing out to NV this summer to visit dad" idea from "maybe not such a bright idea" to "maybe, just maybe, a brilliant idea!"

Done plenty of cross country trips in a cage, maybe it's time to do it on two wheels after all.

So thanks again, looking forward to more.
