FrankenStein and other Freaks- Motorcycle Monsters
Fellow mad scientist[s]. I..build.. freak machines.. from the dissembowled parts.. of once beautiful machines. Motorcycles.. of questionable performance and style. bUT, I build them. Fire breathing monsters, (most of the time nOT), capable of meyhem and destruction amoungst men. as of this posting I am working in the depths of my la-boro-tory on my current evil beast; the "Frankenstein Special", build posted here shortly. These pages....are for those amoung you whom are of the same breeding; Maniacal freaks yourself, hell-bent on creating your own monsters. Mad Max be damned. That was the movies. We...are the real thing. Photos, stories, sightings, ramblings.
POST YOUR BUILDS HERE... and as with all scientist, there will be many experiments gone awry, some experiements that never get off the ground, even more that only are in your twisted minds. Post them, build them, show them off. Hollywood Need not apply.....Pretty...... is in the eye of the beholder.

My first was a DR 360 stuffed into a RM 250 frame way before there were 4-stroke off road bikes with any kind of suspension. A kick it till you puked 320 pound monster, it was ugly but it ran like a mutha. After that i started modifying all kinds of bikes. TT 600 with KX 500 front end, CR 480 stuffed into a 250 three wheeler, RD 400 cafe. The second build was the original freak bike that got me going. Unfortunately no photos though. I started with a three wheeler. Yea, a three wheeler. Back in 93 or 94. I had a 1985 Honda 250R three wheeler that I had bought new. I had raced it in the Grand National and Mickey Thompson series out west. Mugen had provided me with engine upgrades so it was scary fast. After it sat in my garage for about eight years, I saw the Honda and Yamaha fat tire motorcycles on the trails. I had also ridden a Rokon a few times and decided there needed to be a high performance fat tire based on my 250R. Six month later I had built a two wheel 60 HP water cooled rocket ship with a baja design dual light set up that was street legal. I lived in Idaho at the time and had gotten the thing legal. It only went 50-60 top end but the low end power and the wheelie capabilities were awesome. One of the most fun motorcycles I have ever owned. Pics are old photos that I will find and scan. The new builds will be posted.
Tomorrow I am working on the XS so I should have some updates soon. Since I'm not a mechanic or fabricator of any kind the process is slow. I have to explain my freak ideas to someone who will help me build, then I assemble the sometimes major mistakes-hence the FrankenStein moniker.

I worked on the tank for my XS750 today. Looks like a SR500 modified stock will go on top. It's going out for chemical stripping before it gets the complete overhaul. Pics by tomorrow.

Finished and gone........
Great idea for a thread. Sadly I can't show build progress because the bikes are done and gone but I wanted to show them anyway.
First, a 1986 Ninja 250 with a 600 Rotax engine, EX 500 forks, custom dry sump tank and engine cradle. ![]() ![]() Second a 2002 Superhawk converted to naked with underseat radiator and 929 forks and gauges. ![]() ![]() Third an '89 CB-1 turned into a CB-1.5. CBR600F3 engine, F3 wheels, CBR600RR front end and gauges, 599 headlight. Quite a bit of work to fit the engine and carbs, the rest was relatively easy. ![]() ![]()

I knew there freaks out there. Nice. Seriously considering starting a club for bikes like these. In Canada riding this week so no updates on my builds but should have some interesting stuff when I get home. Always find parts on trips that I use for my freaks.

I like the XS650 project. I didn't know about Shell Thuet up until maybe 2 years ago. That'll be cool when you're finished.
There's an FZR400 frame for sale in this area. I thought about dropping something in there like maybe an FZR600 motor, but with no title for the frame, I'm not gonna suffer DMV hell after all that work.

How did that work out, able to keep the temp down? When I built my SV1000 I loved how much better it looked w/o the rad.
