solo ride on my 77 KZ1000 survivor

hi guys

out on my own today and snapped a few phone pix - hope you like them

just a 100 miler in my neck of the woods - left the GS at home and let the 77 get a leg stretch happening

the lovely wintry WA Sunday feeling is here in spades

























It was a great quick ride and a good opportunity for a first posting I hope.

Not very adventurous but a real blast.

Very nice scenery and beautiful machine!

Was in Sydney and Tasmania while in the military in 1979-never got to Western Australia.

Would like to go back and visit as a tourist...had a great time there and really enjoyed it.

The Kawasaki KZ1000 - What a great bike. In 1977 had a friend who had one and we got into so much trouble riding it around town. What a gorgeous looking 77. Nice color and clean 4 into 1. It's a shame not to take it out once in a while and let it stretch its' legs out and run and run and run.

77 was the first year with disc brake rear end, 73 - 76 was disc front end and drum rear.

It goes really well having stood in a barn for about twenty years before I shipped it over to Australia last year and myself and a mate got it back on the road. It has been the best $1750 I ever spent.

I always love to get out on my older bikes and every rider I encounter loves to see 70's muscle Kwaks on the road

if I was in the USA I would have lots more bikes and no cash in the bank I must say

I am just waiting on a 78 Z1000A2 that is coming from the UK - I am hoping it will be here in about eight weeks. Another old Kwak to hit the WA blacktop. I can't wait I can tell you.

I love the survivor look and this one pulls really strong, I think the 77 was a real step up in refinement and as much as I love riding my Z1s I have to say that the 77 pulls so much harder. The exhaust was made by a mate back in the UK - he really captures the period and the tone out of the pipe is sweet.

Ahhh....pics with the Vetter!!! Gotta love it :) That is exactly how I got mine....in fact, I use the old fairing quite a bit on longer "touring" trips. May not be the coolest looking but, hey...I'm touring on a KZ and the other guy isn't!!
