Texas Hill Country weekend - 1100 miles of fun
Last weekend, I decided to check out the "three twisted sisters".
![]() These are famous backroads in the Texas Hill Country. ![]() My weapon for this trip is my new Super Ten with all the good farkles ![]() [IMG] [/IMG]I left Houston early Saturday morning under beautiful skies. It will be hot (we're in July, it's Texas). [IMG] [/IMG]I ride this boring, long, tiring Interstate 10 to San-Antonio. It takes like three hours. I go around San Antonio on the loop, direction Bandera. The road is already more interesting. Bandera is considered the World Capital of Cowboys! [IMG] [/IMG]I bet this BBQ place is pretty good.. ![]() From there, I head to Medina TX, where the "sisters" loop starts. The first leg takes me to Leakey (yes it's a true name). The landscape is amazing and the road already pretty curvey. There are these amazing oak trees. I'm not sure if they're live or dead but they're simply amazing. [IMG] [/IMG]This one is sure live and it's big! ![]() Some cows are already hot and looking for shade! [IMG] [/IMG]Here's a cool Ranch: [IMG] [/IMG]Just on time for lunch at the Hog Pen.. [IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG]Texas BBQ of course! [IMG] [/IMG]stay tuned!

Hill country continued
While riding I came to this deserted area. No one there. I stopped at an empty place which I thought was beautiful to take some shots of my bike. This was cool as I tried out my new tripod to shoot some HDR pictures.
"shot a la Davide Biga!!" [IMG] [/IMG]Some guy drove by in his pickup truck and saw me. I could see on his face: "what the hell is this guy doing there... it is so hot and he's dressed with leather and gears, taking pictures in the middle of nowhere??"... ![]() Whatever.. It's nice here dood. ![]() The twisted sisters are definitely awesome . Here are a few pictures of the curves: ![]() ![]() ![]() The Hill Country landscape is also stunning... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Stay tuned for more pics and stories

My area, from Houston myself and yes its friggin hot right now.
There is a town in far west texas near the border called Lobo which is a ghost town that was purchased by some motorcyclists from Germany who would come to the US to ride that area. I have never been. its on my list |

After so much fun with the sisters, it was already time to put the camp together.
I rode to the Enchanted Rock State Park, some 17 miles North of Fredericksburg. It's a really nice place to camp at, very quiet. I was by the creek. It was dry though.. The only problem was that the temperature was not going down by much, IT was still 95 deg F at 7:30 PM. [IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG]I am still experimenting with camping so I don't have a stove yet.. After a refreshing shower, I had to ride to Fredricksburg to grab a bite.. I was not very hungry with the late BBQ lunch still in my stomach. Also, my time in town was limited because the gates of the park closed at 10 PM. My dinner was just a pear salad and a large chilled Shiner Bock! ![]() Fredericksburg is a touristy but nice little town with many shops and restaurants on main street. [IMG] [/IMG]Going back "home", it was dark and I know that there are many deers out there. I rode very slow (50 MPH) and I swear I saw like twenty deers on the side of the road, just waiting to cross. I could see their shiny eyes in my headlight. I was like "You, little f*$!3r, if you jump in front of me, it ain't gonna be pretty" I made it back to the camp without deer / Oli massacre. Back to my tent, I really enjoyed the night skies and the stars. I went around to try to take pictures of the sky with my G12 but no luck. I have to figure this out. Going back to my tent to go to bed, I saw a little friend, eyes shining in the dark... [IMG] [/IMG]

Err, I can't tell how big that spider is. It seems to be covering the silver dollar you threw down.

The Sunday consisted mostly of riding back home.. Too bad I don't have much more time to enjoy rides.
By 10:00 AM my tent and my stuff was packed on the Super Ten. I took a few shots of the bike in front of the Enchanted Rock. [IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG]After a good breakfast, I headed back home in Orange Tx. For most back road fun I navigated through Austin, College Station and Beaumont. In Caldwell I found this very Texas Lounge. OMG!! [IMG] [/IMG]I took me some 8 hours of riding to reach home. What a weekend!
