Great pix and stories. The silt and sand/pumice out near June Lake kicked my ass a few years ago. It's why Barbie wears a June Lake junction sticker. We will be back

Joel,

Unfortunately it is not the camera, it is Picasa.
I fix most of the pictures before I load them to SmugMug. Color temperature, auto adjust, etc.

I've been using PS for... ever... but Picasa is much much much easier. PS is for professional editing.
I think a good camera is the key, especially for fast and accurate focusing.

brief history of this place

ersin contemplating in getting a rear sprocket...:

i know when the weather is perfect, i get good pics from my cheap camera

we are shameless and always like to see our pics

stuck, do not stick your head where it doesn't belong

good to see people care

it's a long walk to the edge of town

giving our feet a rest; those riding boots are only good for hundred yards

very little changes from the day folks left town

it gets extremely cold out here

they stood and not forgotten

one more glance and we hit the road

not one of ours, but they surely into adventure riding

Same here, most of my photos are just OK out of the camera. But once I touch em up in Lightroom 2, they really pop. I also get to correct the tilt and crop. Usually I can just spend less then 30 seconds per photo, worst case. But soon I will be switching to Aperture since I am going to Mac...my friend did the switch and says that program will do 90% of what Lightroom will do, for cheaper, and definitely meet the needs of us amateurs.

All I can say is.....CANON CANON CANON.
If you want the best image quality you have to buy the camera the produces the best image quality. You can read profession report after report, it's ALWAYS Canon.

All I can say is..... ORANGE ORANGE ORANGE.
Anyone that comes up with an orange tough camera gets my business.
So far it is Olympus.

The Panasonic TS series comes orange. And it takes better pix than Olympus. Read the reports.

Canon has always had the best lenses. Sony Ziess is up there too, Panasonic and Nikon. Hasselblad if you spend pro $$. The rest are just me-too cams, like Kodak, Samsung, Olympus, Pentax. The latter probaby the best of that bunch.

I'm generalizing. They're all pretty good, best bet is to match the features to your individual needs. For a rugged, the TS is really hard to beat. None will produce images like a dslr or even a compact zoom. But those tend to be too bulky for hauling on a bike unless photography is your primary focus. No punn intended.
