To add to what's already been written, a point and shoot camera on a long strap / gear saver can do just fine.

This photo seemed like a good idea, at the time, but nearly cost me (and my brother) a ruined motorcycle vacation. I stopped messing with "action photos" after this attempt.

Some good advice and photos in here, shooting while riding can be quite fun for a unique perspective on your rides.
For me, holding a camera in my left hand works, never bothered with a tether or using cameras that I thought were disposable, instead trusting myself to get the shot safely. While I don't bother carrying a big camera these days, I alway have a non-DSLR camera in my tank bag/box with easy access and never dropped one yet. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() For shots that I can't safely get by hand I use a Manfrotto Magic Arm to position a camera where I please. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Then again it could be safer or easier to have a pillion to shoot for you. ![]()
