CR7/3, yeah, that was the road I got vertigo on with those tight, steep switchbacks. If you would have stopped on those steep sections, you and your bike would have just slid back down the gravel.

It was nice up there in October. How did you jump from Criders to Spruce knob so quick

In WVa with the Newbie. Great route over the mountain. We climbed up the gravel side over the baby water crossing.

hey chris,

i think we were on your last ride on Virginia/West Virginia roads before you left for California, the day i ran into a tree on Dunkle Hollow. looks like you found some riding out there.

you and Hiller need to plan a Baja trip so all the east coasters can invite themselves.

You got a problem with that. My fellow Stromer may have to come back and do something about it. :evi

Yea it was a good ride. I like the climb. After leaving the newbie tiger rider in New Market I wanted to head back to "The Camp" but did not want to drop down the mountain in the dark alone. Even with the phenomenal head lights on the Wee. Right Chris. Besides I had to work on Monday.

Monsieur Nix did too, forget what he said earlier about that vertigo thing, heck, he's learned how to ride the DR with his eyes closed, at least that's the way it looks sometimes.

more report on the way.

[QUOTE=jdrocks;20039244i swear these out of the way places are spooky as heck in the shoulder seasons with vehicles creeping around in the middle of the night. there were people moving from midnight to about 3AM.[/QUOTE]

It could be as simple as "whitetail fever" and folks trying to be the first to their favorite stands during this early season, but a common problem in the mountains is that people are baiting and poaching bears and then "parting them out" for tons of illegal cash. All of this happens in the middle of the night during this time of year so they blend in with the other hunters and have reason to be poking around the National Forests. If it ever seems especially suspicious you may want to consider carefully informing a Game Warden. Some of these people are good ol' boys trying to get by but some are as dangerous as the "Deep Mountain Sewing Crew". And no one wants to get caught breaking a Federal Law, so be careful.

Great report and a very entertaining read. If the West Virginians raise the money to put a bounty on Monsieur Nix's head I know where he lives. I think three of us and a bowl of ice cream could take him alive.
