Never been there myself, but just looking at that ONE video, the white CBR that crashes took a very different line than the bike that preceded him. So my vote is for trying to accelerate too much too soon out of a bad line. Like he wasn't on the inside accelerating to the outside, but half way outside trying to turn back toward the inside and accelerate at the same time.

If I see a bunch of gravel spread across the road, black tire skid marks all over, onlookers and photographers waiting in the curves to witness carnage, I would slow the hell down. Basic motorcycle safety courses simply say don't out-ride your sight lines.

As far as I can tell, all these folks crossing the line into oncoming traffic, high siding into guard rails and belly flopping off the cliff were simply going too fast. Out-riding their sight lines.

There are crowds for a reason. When racing in Baja I would be alone for miles then come upon a large group gathered to watch "something". I never gave into the urge to give them a show. I loved to disappoint them. There was usually a kicker or boobie trap to f'up the motorcycles.
