I just don't fit on the Japanese sport tourer offerings. C14, FJR, Honda's stuff, everything is cramped. I'm not really oversized, 6'-2", 35" inseam tending to fat at 240lbs. Nothing fits me like the big trailies like the R1200GS & MTS1200, and I was really comfortable on the K1600GT (with the seat in the high position). Everything else that I've tried, including H-D feels cramped. I'm thinking that the Germans just have things figured out, ergonomically, for larger people.

Just my 2 cents...

cheers,

The K1600s can be fun on twisty roads as well.

I love the RT, except for the engine - just doesn't do it for me, mostly from the roughness. The wter-cooled boxer is supposedly smoother, but it will be a while before the RT version is ready, and then there are potential problems with the first-year model ... so I'd wait for the RT until 2015 or 16.

You could wait on the new RT or try riding the GT(L). Life is short....

I'm going back to the dealer tomorrow to test ride the GTL with my wife. I don't know if she'll like it but, hey, it's a free ride on a nice bike

Seems like a great bike, but too rich for my blood.

I went to Bobs BMW in Maryland for a test ride & the sales man said before i take one for a ride they must have my credit card & put $3,000 charge on it just in case i drop it, but would credit me if retured in same way i took it out. Lets say i ran from there & not walked, shame i liked the place.

That sucks! Find another dealer, for sure.

I worked at this dealer in 2005. The only employee still working there that worked there when I did was a tech, now a salesman. So, that helped. I actually had met most the other guys during visits but the GM was pretty new. I'd met him on the day of the first test ride.

My wife and I didn't go today for the test ride. She had plans that I thought she changed to Sunday. She thought I said we could go to BMW on Sunday. Um, no, they're not open Sundays.

But, hopefully, we'll go next weekend or another day soon.

I myself would have gone anyway & test rode it solo. My wife used to ride with me all the time, but for some reason she stopped going. I used to buy bikes that only pleased the wife & now I buy bikes I like. She did like my K1100lt but not the RT (go figure)

We bought our GTL on Saturday. I had test ridden the GT solo a week prior. Then rode the GT two-up on Friday--that only lasted about a half hour, wife hated the seat. Then they let us take the GTL out for two hours. It's a mile muncher for sure. Rode the GS back down on Saturday and brought the new bike home. Got a ticket a few exits away from my turn off--the speed creeps up on you, it's just so smooth.

It sure is! Congrats (on the bike, not the ticket).
