Yes, its a 2005 with a Champion Escort car. Hydraulic Brembo on the car wheel with Jay's TILT mechanism between the car and bike. I'm thinking its an upgrade from my old GL1000/Velorex 562.

Nowhere near as nice as your rig though! I'd love to know what your conversion cost....

That will be an excuse for us to get together . Rocket III is an amazing sidecar pusher but I see very few Rocket rigs around. Did you make any steering modifications?

Not yet. I talked to Brock at Steerite and will likely go that route this winter.

I had Unit leading links on my wing, but never really got it to where I wanted it to be. Have you seen any hub-steering setups for these? I was seriously Jonesing for a BMW GT1300 rig with a Hannigan HPS car, but at $19k I couldn't justify it yet.

This rim is 5.5" wide (+2" than mine), but it looks like it might work? More to come....
Here is the Yoko on my BMW 5.5" rim. It was a real bitch to mount, I think a 2" narrower rim will distort the tread alot, the side walls are short and stiff. Even wit 6mm additional spacers the tire grew with road heat and rubbed the corner of the BMW swingarm, had to sand some rubber from the inside edge of the tread. I will probably go with the adapter from Claude and 15" wheel in the future.

Want to buy a slightly used (4000 miles) tire?

No luck with Cooper.

On Coker, the closest thing is a 600/650R17 Excelsior Stahl Sport Radial. Main problem is that the thing is 29.5" OD (versus about 26.5" OD for stock). I know the width would fit and the tire would mount on the rim (tire recommended rim width is 3.62" to 5"), but I don't think it would clear the fender.

Its $285 and kind of looks like crap too....

175/55/17 option's

Hey Transaplian . Having the same problem for my Rocket 3 Rig .. . Stop in at Coker on the way back from a ride to see what they had to offer and the closest I got to a match was a.......... Excelsior All Black = 450-17" W/ 4" tread width and 4.50 sec width and 26" dia. cost $155.00 . But it was a tube type like the Excelsior Stahl Radial you looked at , and I'm not sure I want to go with a tube setup / close to needing another frt tire from the ride out to Colorado and back looks like only about 12K on this Macadam if I'm lucky. Good luck and post if you find something !

Oh...and i'm sending my tree's out to Brock this winter also ......29K with no mods is starting to get a little old for this 70 YRO senior. But man.... that monster motor makes up for heavy steering.

So are you a possible fourth for a group buy? (assuming price, etc)

Not to change the subject, but didn't I see that you sold your rig? At least I think it was your rig for sale on sidecar.com...

Tire Update

I have made contact with Rod at Motopodd! I guess the Olympics were too much a distraction for him?

Buying them 1 or 2 at a time will be very expensive ($300+). We are trying to see if shipping more of them via water will reduce the cost where it makes sense to more people. I don't know yet what the lower cost will be.

All that said, who might be interested in this tire?

--To be clear, we are talking about the Bridgestone Potenza RE040 in 175/55 R 17 --

We know it fits on a stock Triumph Rocket III 3.5"x17" front wheel. Doing a little digging on here shows it fits on the 1150/1200 GS 4"x17" wheel as well. This tire comes OEM to the Vauxhall VX220 on the front 5.5"x17" wheel.

This would be a pre-paid order, Rod would ship the lot to me, and I would ship to you.

I'm probably in for 2, seeing how difficult these are to find.

Anyone interested?

Going on the old classroom assumption that if I have a question so do others....When you say expensive at $300, I'm assuming that is per tire FOB Ohio, correct?

I am interseted but want clarity on the price, ya know how cheap farmers are! What is the rough Breakdown?...Is this about right? Tire about $130 and shipping $170= $300/tire FOB Ohio? And hoping to lessen freight by getting a larger order?

Thanks
