What does an F800 GS Weigh?

Hey Guys what does a F 800 GS actually weigh with fuel, oil, tires, Etc. ready to ride?

Cycle World in it's August 2011 comparison test of the F800GS and Triumph 800XC weighed them both and the GS Weighed 489 lbs (222 Kg) wet. The Triumph weighed 503 lbs (228 Kg). A link to this article is available around here somewhere.

I weighed my farkled 800GS with Shorei battery and Leo Vince carbon exhaust with a full tank at 215Kg.

NASA has a map of the gravity holes where GS's are parked, measure from the space station..

Does that mean there are mini black holes where the 1200 Super Tenere's are parked since they weigh 587 lbs (266 Kg) ?

Perhaps they could rename some of these big Adventure bikes the Higgs Boson !

How does a dry 392 lbs get to 489 lbs with fuel and oil? Or is there official BMW BS going on here?

I am looking at the US spec'ed F800GS brochure:

- Dry weight: 408lbs
- Unladen weight, fully fuel road ready: 456 lbs

Add some popular BMW farkles such as, hand guards, center stand, engine skid plate, engine crash bar, panniers, top box, I think you can easily exceed 500 lbs.

Was at a dealership in Missoula to try and get info on the up coming models. Looks like the new bits will add 15-20 more lbs to the load. I am guessing that was the old version without ABS/etc.

Perhaps, but those items give no objective weight standard, and are beyond the OP's query. What is the wet weight?

When I bought one of the first F800GSes imported to North America, the '09 model, BMW stated it was 392 lbs. dry. I'll have to calculate the weight of fuel and oil for the wet weight. Alas, I am NOT going to strip my bike of accessories and reinstall OEM suspension to confirm accuracy!

The dry weight is a completely irrelevant figure that has nothing to do with the real world. It doesn't include ANY operating fluids, not even shock oil or the acid in the battery.

The most relevant number is wet weight with no fuel, so as not to punish a bike that has more capacity stock. The 08-12 F800GS with ABS weighs about 450 lbs with NO fuel on board.

Mine weighs all of 450lb, just try to pick it up after a nap. Last time it took three tries. If after the third try I couldn't pick it up I was going for help.
