Zumo 220 disappointment

I've had mine for a little over a year and it had been ok but I finally managed to take it on a real motorcycle tour this past month. I have two major gripes.

I was really excited to climb above 10,000 feet as I rode over Wolf Creek Pass in Colorado. As I punched through the gps would only display 10 feet until I got back down below 10,000.

I rode a lot of different roads. I wanted to be able to go back to the recorded track when I got home to see my entire journey. Well the zumo 220 is not able to record even one day of my riding before it runs out of memory and starts deleting tracks. Luckily I ran a spot for the entire ride and was able to unravel my route with it.

So I am thoroughly disappointed with the zumo. It is not a motorcycling gps at all.

Unfortunately, this may be a case of getting what you pay for.

My Zumo 550 displays 5 digit elevations just fine and has not filled its memory after several thousand miles of riding.

Your tracks are probably in there.

The Zumo 220 is very similar to my Nuvi 550.
While your active track line displayed may be truncated,
you should find archive track files in the units memory that go quite a ways back.
As I recall you have to hook it up to a PC and search a bit for them, but I will bet they are there.

Geez, the 220 and 550 were about the same price. I know there is a big discrepancy now but there wasn’t in the past.

I have a 220 which I found very disappointing after having used a Zumo 450.

Unfortunately I checked and they only go back about 1,800 miles. The trip was 6,500 miles so quite a bit dropped.

You checked for the archived .gpx files in the GPX folder? I think the 220 like the 550 in that it keeps 20 .gpx files with 10k points per file.

I was seriously concidering the 220' now I'm not sure...if you were going to buy something "today" what would you go for (new or used)?
