Tablet (Android) app for route planning??

I have a Garmin Oregon that I really like. It's been very durable and great for navigation. Only thing is the screen and software are a little limited for route planning. I have a big "desktop replacement" laptop I use with Basecamp for route planning and just transfer the files to the GPS. Only thing is, it's too big and bulky to haul along on an adventure. I just picked up a Nexus 7 tablet-real impressed with the little sucker. I want to use it for route planning and download to the Oregon, just like the laptop. Are there any good apps for doing this? And for that matter, will the Oregon communicate with a Nexus, via an OTG adapter (on order)?

To be clear, I don't want to use the tablet as a GPS while navigating, I want to keep it secure and padded. The Oregon has proven up to abuse.

Thanks to all the experts.

I'm not sure the OTG will help communicate with the Nexus 7 - unless you'll be rooting the Nexus; only then is it possible, at least from what I've read about the device in the last few days that I've had it.

I've not looked for software to create routes on any of my 'Droid devices at this time...can't help ya there.

Orux Maps ? It also has a desktop app but I've never tried it, and I've never tried transferring to a gps from my Android either.

I'm not an Android user, but I think you should check this stuff out:

but see post #241 and the posts by Jager

Then go to craftcoder's web site:

So far have you discovered any Android app capable of loading Garmin maps (from a Montana or MicroSD) and manage waypoints and Tacks?

Cheers
