CX500 Adventure!

This is probably like nothing you've seen before. This is my project bike... started out as a 1978 CX500 Standard. I've added a 1995 GSXR750 front end (forks, lower tree, wheel, rotors), 1998 calipers (6 piston), Hayabusa top tree, a GL650 motor, Hayabusa rear shock with GL500 swingarm, CX+GL drive shafts grafted together, GL1100 17" rear rim and spokes bolted to a CX500 hub, 75/25 Shinko tubeless dual sport tires, Acerbis front fender, custom hugger (made out of the gsxr750 front fender), all the electronics tucked under the seat, custom headlight, GL500 gauges, custom 2-into-2 high pipes with supertrapp knockoff mufflers, and just a shitton of modifications. What do you guys think?

Note, this is a work in progress, I've almost finished the mechanics, once that's done I'll paint and work on fit and finish.

Hrm, I forgot I created a thread about this bike a while back. How do I delete this post? (Or merge it into the other thread?)

If you were going for the ADV type bike , why not a dirt bike front end ?

I was originally going for a street fighter, but things kind of evolved and this is what I ended up with. I might go with sportbike tires next, but I just love these tires. They handle very well, and the bike is just a blast to ride. I never really ride on more than washboard dirt roads, so the bike might be a little poseur, but I don't care. It looks really cool and it's really fun to ride. Took it for a shakedown cruise today and had an absolute blast!

Cool.

It kinda looks likes a Z50 .

With everything painted to match , it will look killer.

Ha, it does, that's the style you go for! CX 650 Maxi-Trail!

It's a terrible bike. But I will be nice and take it off your hands so that you won't suffer. (can you tell I like CX's?)

Seriously, I'd love to see it in person--I'm in Raleighwood so I'm local to you.

I've always been fond of the CX bikes. You going to have it done in time for Ton Up?

Seat needs work, otherwise I dig it.

I like the stock seat, I'm trying to keep the bike looking vintage! I'd love to show the bike off once it's done. I have no idea what the Ton Up is, I'm just trying to get it done before labor day so I can ride it to the beach. :)

I guess this bike isn't really an adventure bike, so much as a survival bike. Doesn't matter, I love it!

I think it's cool! Throw an RM front end on there, fab up a skid plate, and it would be a killer Maxi-Trail! lol!
