Wow, you were really fast with that answer!
Someone is paying attention...

Gold star for oldtrucks!

And, your reward is....

more Mameshiba!

The wrong answer would have gotten you TWO Mameshiba videos!

Were you going China Head - Poison Mtn - Mud Lake?
That’s the direction we were going.
Hmm. I definitely know the creek crossing and have photos from that...
The downhill, though...might not have taken pics of that one...
Do you have any photos of the downhill?
We'll talk more when we get to that part, ok?
I hope the pics and video are alright???
You work so hard on this maybe a little rest for you in your own thread is ok?
I was on a trip with Motoged and something like 21 others on a 3 day trip from Kamloops to Lillooet to Braylorn and then back.

Look familar? The creek crossing opposite of what you saw.

We stayed the night in Braylorn. The rest of the group rode home on pavement due to the forecast of non-stop rain. I was on my vacation and didn't care. I had tracks back over China Head and beyond.

Here is a video of the creek backwards of your direction (In HD)

And the hill (again backwards, and in HD) It definitely seemed worse heading down. I was rather worried as I left Braylorn that it would be very slippery and would be my worst obstacle in traveling alone in the wet. No worries...

Condensed due to rudeness......(Sorry Wans)

Wow, now that’s a hijack!

OK, Uller.
You were obviously excited that someone else knows where you rode!
Leave them up for the rest of the class to enjoy.

I thought that was the hill you were referring to - to answer your question,
No, we didn't have any issues on it (and it didn't seem like you did, either).
Everything in BC is steep, though.
We had already seen much worse...

OK, scottmac - I know there are 2 reasons you like that one...

It is mesmerizing...

But, also - Ow.

Somebody needs some Mameshiba!

All right. Enough nonsense...
Let's get back to riding!

Day 38: 7/29/12 continued
Mad Radek’s Canadian Lunacy Tour part deux
483 miles

If you can remember that far back, we had left off in the pretty purple flowers....

Radek was leading us through a forest wonderland...

We have nice video through this lovely meadow, but I thought it might be too repetitive.
Very similar to our other 2 up videos with Radek.
More fast roads though trees and puddles...

With really nice dirt.

Instead of repetitive videos, I'll give you some repetitive screen caps.

Nice dirt.

some rocks.

nice dirt.

some water.

nice dirt.

nice water.

more water.

more rocks.

more water!

Now we had finally arrived at Poison Mountain.
Radek has taken people here and had them fail to make it up.
He was hoping we could do it.
After all, we were 2up on a big bike...

He said it doesn't look like much from here,
but you can't even see the top.
It keeps going and going...

Radek was going first.
He started off on the trail...

But he had issues. It was super loose.
Here, he's pointing to the side, to tell us to go up in the grass.
You can kind of see us at the bottom of the trail...

OK, here we go!

See Radek up there?

It got pretty rocky...

Really rocky...

This was just a little stop - as promised, the mountain kept going and going...

One more section!

He's looking back to make sure we're still coming...

No problem!

This seems like a good spot for the video...
HD for the rocks!

Woooo! We made it!
We're on top of the world!

I tried to put the photos in order of the view - going to the right....

It was totally awesome up there!!

And, he was completely stoked to share it with us!

Amazing.
Thanks, Radek!
These are the parts of BC that the average person never sees...

Nothing's sweeter than the views you have to work for.

Can't stay away

I check back for updates every time I turn around. Love the story telling and Kelly I think you're a .

Just a quick question you may have covered in another spot. What are you and Matt running for suspension? I have to know, cause if you guys are running stock like that 2 up and loaded, Matt is even more amazing.

Thx for the fun stories regardless.

As my wife calls me,
The Great NW Silverback, she took pity on me and got me released from the zoo.

Really??!!

"I couldn’t tell if people were getting bored..."

I think not. I can't imagine somebody getting bored with a Wans report.
Please continue.

Kelli- I've really enjoyed this rr and your videos have been extra-ordinary, but I think it took me an hour and a handful of muscle relaxers to unpucker the seat springs after watching this last one. You guys are just out-freakin-standing together. And I've come to believe that Matt is strong enough and tough enough to go bear hunting with a switch. Way cool.

Rock stars! That hill climb gives us something to work up to. Just out of curiosity, what was your elevation on top of Poison?

Aw, Uller - you didn’t have to take anything down!
I was just giving you a hard time...it was a big post, but you were having fun.
I’m just glad you didn’t give away Poison Mtn!
Well, if you want to put anything back, you always can.
Or do a day trippin’ ride report!

Thanks for the kind words, tagentry!

Oh, no - our suspension is far from stock.
.70 springs in the front, a 157N in the rear.
it's super stiff and the bike has hardly any sag.
Matt’s tippy-toed when he’s by himself, unloaded.

Thanks also, to redog, Rwelch, hobbes, NoVa Rider, dickosaurus and jadedillusion!

You guys are the best!
I’m so glad you’re enjoying the videos - thanks for watching them.

jadedillusion, I looked around and it seems like Poison mtn was only 7428 ft.
Info here.
Not that high.
Nothing like those passes in Colorado...

Whew.
This was a long, shitty week for us (in real life, not in the ride report).
I hope that next week will be better for posting...
OK, lemme try and get back on track.

Day 38: 7/29/12 continued
Mad Radek’s Canadian Lunacy Tour part deux
483 miles

We took a couple more pics on top of the world...

It was actually a lot worse going down, I thought.
Steep and rocky.
And hard to know where to go.
We just aimed towards the bottom and looked for some sign of the trail.
(no pics or video )

OK, back on the trail.
It was about 7pm at this point, and we had probably 200 miles to go.

Another mongo BC puddle (aw, did you guys see that
the actor who played Mongo just died? Sad. )
You know it's a big puddle when it goes around a corner...

There’s where we came from - Poison Mountain.

You can see the trail better in this shot...Steep!

Heading towards Mud Lakes.

So, I think the steep down hill that Uller mentioned was right after this photo of Radek...

The first deep creek crossing.

Short video of the second one.
Uller already posted his version of these crossings, so he owes me like 10 lost views...
(got that, Uller? you have to watch this 10 x
)
kidding!

Steam coming off the hot engine.

This hill doesn’t look like much, but it had a deep rut in the middle.

Looking back...
the sides of the rut were all loose and slippery, forcing us to fall in...

The shadows were getting long...

Love the views in BC...

Radek wanted to stop at the Tyax Resort.
It was pretty ritzy.
As we walked through the dining room, we could actually hear some of the guests saying,
“Who are these people??”
We were just some filthy dirtbags walking through like we owned the joint...

We sat on the deck...

Overlooking the lake.

Radek had a beer, but Matt and I just had some ice water.
We were starting to stress about getting fuel. We needed gas, and soon.

This one is a little dark, but you can kinda see the interior.

We were taking something called “the Hurley”
I guess it’s popular with snowmobiles in the winter.

Pretty fun for motos in the summer!

After the sun went down, there wasn't much to take pics of.
Just lots and lots of dust.
We were following Radek, blasting down the gravel, and it was nasty.

We had gravel for quite some time and moved onto the slab.
Normally, I would bitch about the pavement, but after all that horrible dust
(and some scary loose spots in the dark), it was kinda nice.

We got to Pemberton around 10:30pm and the first gas station was closed.
Luckily, this one was open.
Woo hoo! Gas!

We were all pretty filthy.

Dinner was McDonalds, and we were happy to have it.
We still had over 150 miles to go, and it was freaking cold outside.

We rode past Whistler, Squamish, Horseshoe Bay, etc...
I’ll bet they’re all really beautiful, but it was dark and we didn’t see dick.
Oh well.
Good dirt trumps all, in our book.
The rides we had done in the last 2 days were incredible.
Challenging, beautiful, remote...a-m-a-z-i-n-g...
Mucking great stuff!

We can always see the other things when we’re old.
Highway looks the same from a bike or from a cage, right?

Radek said he’d take us on a night tour of Vancouver.

Going over the bridge...

I love these crazy, blurry photos.
We were so tired, this is exactly how Vancouver looked that night...

We were going to try and find some Chinese food,
but nothing was open.
It was 1:30am on a Sunday night...

Instead, Radek took us on a tour of Crackville.
The druggies were the only ones awake on an early monday morning.
It wasn’t that bad. Pretty clean and orderly, compared to SF’s tenderloin.
Did you know that prostitution is legal in Vancouver?
Yep.

We got back to the man cave around 2:30am.
Whew. That was a long day!

I was actually past the point of feeling tired.
Matt and I finally went to bed around 4am.

OK, that's it for today....
