Tim -

Exactly right. I've decided which one I want, always hard to find the coin but I'm going to do it.

What's the deal on the predatory trees over there?

The Dry Side is a dangerous place.

(I was just the cameraman on this incident.)

Haha! Yeah them trees are evil. One tried to get Bartek during the KTM Rally. He bashed it good but it just laughed at him and his 990.

Yeah I'm glad to be walkin an talkin. I'll be wearing the Leatt *every* time I ride in the woods now.

Sunday 9/30 Ride anyone?

I'm thinking of leaving Madras about noon tomorrow, heading east to Ashwood, South up trout creek, east across the Ochoco's on a piece of the OBDR, then down to Mitchell, grab a bite to eat, north past the Painted Hills, up to the Big Muddy ranch, back down Cold Camp road to Ashwood then home.

I'll be at the Shell truck stop in Madras filling up at noon. Taking the DR350 on this one, just cause she's not had much love this summer with the DL650 in the stable. Post up or show up if you're interested.

Tim

Sorry, no pics. A friend that I kind of encouraged into dual sport riding and have been trying to ride with since he bought and plated his XR650R last winter finally had the time to ride. However, he was nursing a bad back and needed to do a shorter, less intensive ride and couldn't get away as early as I could. I decided to take the vstrom.

We left about 12:45, rode to Ashwood, then up Trout Creek. Trout Creek is almost completely dry now. Only two or three crossings had some water. Once we hit FS roads we looked at the maps and decided to take 2730 to loop around to the west then up to the McKay "hub" up on top. The 2730 was fairly boring, I think I've only ridden it once and forgot that there are very few view points and it's just basically a long winding gravel road. Right near the top however 2730 is blocked and "closed" with two huge dirt berms. I remembered going over the berms when I had my TW200 but I was on the Wee. No way was I back tracking so over the berms I went. Hit the skid plate hard but made it. Then go to the washout section and it was a pretty good side hill for the strom, but just got up on the pegs and went for it. My Tourance is at the end of it's life and it spun more than I wanted, but I made it without dabbing. Then slabbed it to Prineville so he could fuel up his tiny stock tank, and slabbed it back to Madras.

So the "good" ride is still waiting. When you coming?

After things settle in from my ride last weekend, maybe I could get out for a ride that direction next Sunday. Let me know!

Fridays ride

Warm overcast October day. We got into some deep dust off of the 41 on our way down Waldo. This place needs some rain.
Fun road through an old burn. Took the 6010 to and 2154 for lunch break at the Timpanogas snow shelter. Nice views out there.
Then headed back up north on the 23 toward Oakridge after refueling and recaffeinating we took the 19 up to 26 and the old 242 toward home.
Good days ride!

I snuck out last night for a "trophy truck" run up 370, had a ball. Forest service guy was still on station at the Todd Lake gate, sat and BS'd with him for awhile, nice guy.
