leaving San Blas I figured I might head out to Guadalajara but ended up in a small market town Magdelana, nice little town and it was cool
view from my room, second floor balcony ![]() not fancy but clean ![]() and it comes with secure parking ![]() mind you the wiring beside the shower is nothing to write home about ![]() the centro was plain but nicely kept ![]() they had a couple of busts but I couldn't quite figure out who they were ![]() ![]() The church was plain on the outside ![]() ![]() Had lunch sitting beside this lady, she had no English and I have no Spanish but we both got some laughs out of it

Before continuing the ride I have a secret I have to get off my chest, back when I came off the Tail of the Dragon I innocently stopped at the Hardley Ableson store there and was so totally captivated by a piece of HD gear that I had to have it
so here you have a genuine Harley Davidson cargo net ![]() left Magdelana and headed down the road, I found a huge number of good looking restaurants along the road, there were hardly any in the town itself, stopped for breakfast and managed to get these two to pose alongside the bike but they wouldn't smile very much! ![]() while I was eating breakfast there was a young senorita mopping the back hall so I figured I'd quietly take a picture of her, I don't know what she heard but just as I was getting the camera up she gave a little scream and took off down the hall like a scared rabbit. Afterwards I realized she must have been in a witness protection program to move that fast ![]() and got as far as Tequila, since I was in the area why not stop and see the world renowned place you can tell by the vegetation when your approaching Tequila, agave and lots of it ![]() but the weather was excellent and the riding was fabulous ![]() ![]() All the motorcycle clubs from Guadalajara must have been out riding today because a gazillion bikes went past the other way and none of them were wasting time. Hey Philip, I've been following your trip, and I finally joined the site as a user. Could not think of a clever handle though. Trip sounds great. Sue and I want to join you somethere this winter but I know it is too early to ask about your itinerary in January. ....... K

Ok, this is going to be chopped into really small segments this is the fifth time I've written this, something, either advrider or my computer seem to have become very unstable
obligatory hotel room shot, some one suggested I show the price once in a while so this was 300 pesos in a renovated tourist area ![]() view from my room of the distillary advertising painted all around the town ![]()

went on a little museum tour
one of the original copper stills ![]() apparently it was a toss up between using horses or human labour to turn this to grind the agave ![]() the barrels are all burned with the makers symbol, the casks came from and still do come from Kentucky. The prized ones were used before to store liquor, it didn't matter what kind as long as they had been used

All the distillaries use a symbol, the oldest one uses the crow and they have it everywhere, in the front gate
![]() inside the back gates ![]() a few more distillers signs ![]() Next: we see how this stuff is made Slowphil screwed with this post 08-28-2012 at 08:18 PM |
