I like it, but not at that price.

How does someone go to the trouble of backdating so much of the bike and not do the seat?

You may want to take a closer look at the seat.

I think the blued, titanium exhaust is the biggest inconsistency in the look.

I'll wait for a used one. But I do want one bad and one of those small HD 750s too. No room right now though.

This!

Really the only thing (other than what the '14 will address) that bothers me about the CB1100's.

But I'll get over it as soon as one is in my garage

The candy gold CB1100 on ebay is nice effort (and certainly runs better w/ fi, not to mention brakes), but the original has better aesthetic proportions that can't be beat.

That bike is just gorgeous.

On a side note, I know the CB1100 is not a Scrambler, but are any of you doing many dirt/gravel road miles on yours? If so, is the balance and suspension reasonable for that use?

I have 3500 miles on my CB11. About 200 were on tame gravel Northern Wisconsin FS roads. It does "ok" on gravel but if you encounter washboards you will be wishing for a front suspension with more travel. Don't ask me how I know this,,,
I kept it up but it was a battle.

I was just wondering how the performance of the CB1100 compares to a Suzuki Bandit 1200, or a Honda 919 - any ideas?

Somewhat slower... the Bandit and 919 are 100-odd RWHP bikes (with the Bandit feeling quite a bit torquier due to the bigger displacement); the CB1100 low-80's. Think of something akin to the difference betweeen a R1150GS vs. a current water-cooled GS. The CB1100 is best thought of as a very powerful retro that is noticeably peppier than other air-cooled retros like the V7 or Bonny, but not in the same class as a FZ1, Bandit, ZRX, etc.

Ya, I'd like to know the same. I'm guessing it's not quite in the same league as the Bandit and not quite the 919 but ???

From Cycle World:

Bandit 1200: 1/4 11.15 @ 120.24mph
919: 1/4 11.14 @ 114mph
ZRX1100: 1/4 11.19 @ 120mph (couldn't find the 1200)
CB1100: 1/4 11.79@110.87

Anybody else miss that little chart Cycle World used to have every month, showing the performance stats of the bikes they tested?

That's more competitive than I would've expected.

I was surprised how close they all are. I wonder how close to the end of the quarter the CB1100 hits the speed limiter? It could probably do a shorter time.
